Nice work!Steamed_Punk wrote:Less than a month into Minetest and i thought i would show you what i am working on. I will hopefully release the first W.I.P's for the Texture Pack and two mods within a month from now.
Personally, I don't care for high-resolution textures or non-blocky models. I prefer the old-school minetest style, but each to his own.

Crafting just got interesting again... And it works for all registered tools, including armor. Shameless Plug... ;)

And..... I hope this isn't tooo inappropriate......
Why is there a phallic symbol in my mapseed?

I had to teleport far away to test something. I ended up in the crater of a big iceberg/icemountain, directly at the floor.

Btw. what does that "OSS" mean?
Edit: Ah, thanks for the answer!

Note that I've recently renamed myself on github and co. to "Desour". (I'm bad at naming things.)

Re: Post your screenshots!
Well, despite all my changes to formspecs, I don't think that they are good enough for Minetest. They break the flow of the game, and no normal GUI system can remedy this. But, try as we might, some things, like inventories, require them, and we are forced to use them.
Well, hopefully not for long.
Introducing ObjForms, the new entity based solution for your GUIs.

It's a pre-alpha right now, since currently you can only pick up items and not place them back down. Items are the only things supported right now, but I'm going to work on things like text, images, and buttons after I finish items.
There are some unfixable bugs. Mainly, https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/8037 makes this totally unsuitable for playing, even assuming my code was bug-free. Another problem is there is no way to make the form follow the player perfectly. I have to simulate it with set_pos (which is jerky) or move_to (the form is always trying to catch up when the player is moving, but smoother). Lastly, I can't use the inventory key, so I'm currently using sneak, by no means ideal.
Regardless, I'm going to keep working on this, and maybe, when all bugs are fixed and the features added, we'll see some games using this.

Re: Post your screenshots!
Why do you say formspecs break the flow of the game? How does having a wrap-around form improve the situation? It looks like you'd be doing basically the same things. You can see about the same amount of your environment.v-rob wrote:Well, despite all my changes to formspecs, I don't think that they are good enough for Minetest. Anyway, I typically stop moving when I go into inventory, so I don't think the entities following would be a major issue for me. I definitely wouldn't keep any kind of gui open when I'm actively playing -- it would get in my way. Maybe the gui objects could just appear in the air or on the ground and disappear if you move away?
