Older version of default jungle texturing:

I like the one with vivid colors the most, maybe because it's so different than MTG where everything looks murky, flat and indistinct.

palm trees of More Trees mod (so far they are probably the best but their size helps to shape them more realistically).
True, big size makes it so much easier.
But I can't make palm trees bigger because that would make everything else look smaller,
and I can't make everything bigger because draw distances suck, that's why my biggest terrain features are up to about 200 nodes across.

And as I can see you know what you're doing :)) This island is taken from the best dreams of an exotic tropical refuge. Good job!

An intersection of a cave and what? Some sort of underground city? Or with that grid-like door placement, an apartment complex?
You're exactly right. It's a flat cave ruining a geomorph of an apartment area. They don't get along -- they're fundamentally incompatible -- but I recently tried them together, by accident. :)

I was going to build the walls of my mine out of stone blocks, but that wasn't expensive enough. Mining is just netting me too much stone. So I went with furnaces instead, using the square textures of their underside texture, which look more like the tiled look I wanted anyway and save me a bunch of furnace fuel. But then I realised you can get an even better look by rotating the furnaces in a few different directions to expose different faces. It's even more of a cobble sink than I could have hoped for, which is great, but I also really like how it looks, even if it's a rather simple design. It might look rather silly next time the furnace textures get changed, but for now, it's kind of nice.

Testing out another map analyzer script for RocketLib Toolkit. This one ranks the prevalence of items (by total quantity) contained in all chests, locked chests, bones, and mailboxes. This screencap shows the results for an area within 5 mapblocks around spawn.

Ranking players with the most protectors placed in world. Since the script take over 8 hours to complete, I will updating these stats on a monthly basis. I believe JT2 is now the first and only server that publishes these types of map database metrics.

Testing out a major update to the Snowfall mod on JT2 last month. Now grass spread is dependent on weather conditions, so both temperature and humidity effect the conversion of grass to dry grass, and vice versa.

Testing my new Map Explorer game that makes it possible for admins to visualize the distribution of mapblocks and the boundaries of mapchunks on a macroscopic scale, including tools to interactively remove mapblocks or entire mapchunks from a map. No longer is database maintenance in Minetest some type of arcane magic.

Stone nodes represent normal, fully-generated mapblocks whereas glass nodes represent partially-generated "shell" mapblocks containing "ignore" nodes. The grid-like box indicates the boundary of a mapchunk.
