By making the forum search suck less.
Currently, it is very hard to find any particular mod, and even knowing the exact shortname (e.g. “flowerpots”, “hudbars”, “hbarmor”, etc.) (which I sort of see as an identifier) gives you tons of useless results.
To actually find mods, we currently have to rely on external search engines such as Minetest Mod Search.

Direct comparison:
Search of “weather” in Minetest Forums
Search of “weather” in Minetest Mod Search

Either fix this problem in the forum search or at least put a very prominent link to the real mod search.

I think it could be possable to change the username,
or "show name" like change the title under the profile-avatar.
it should be limited to 1 time each month.

some people like me need to change our name.

i think it would take about 10-20 minutes to add that function.

UjEdwin, maybe you just write a PM to a forum moderator or administrator around here to request a name change.
Name changes are not everyday business, they should not happen too often or it would become very confusing, so I think it is unlikely this will be actually added as part of an automated process.

Changing the name 1 time a month is too much. This means, after 1 year, an user could have changed the name 12 times! This should definitely not be possible.

yeah, every month is too much, but maybe 1-2 times each profile or something like that, it gives freedom to the users.

i already asked celeron55 but did not answered.

simple:
more usability with join "User Control Panel (0 new messages) • View your posts"
and "View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics • Mark forums read" in one line and always present on top and bottom of page (like old google search page theme)

additional something like "you have been quoted <link>"

not so simple:
"bookmark" comment and sort with categories

My opinion is... make that modified search parameters as default parameter or make two separate search box for normal and modified ones, because most people search for mods and we don't have time to go through advanced search and recheck the appropriate parameter every time we want to search for mod...

phpBB was written in the year 2000 and with the online discussion design paradigms of that time. 17 years later, here we are. Admins could start by bringing the forum software up to modern standards. Other than just the greater user experience an upgrade would bring is the fact that most forum developers will or have already jumped ship on the old forum softwares. That makes development of those slow to a crawl while expectations of a forum experience continues to rise, security threats become more sophisticated and so on. Sooner or later they're going to have to switch anyway.

Discourse is great, fast, open source and has migration from phpBB. See the Illuna forum for reference. There's a great amount of addons as well, tags for instance. Just look at how everyone is using ad-hoc [tags] in post titles already. Or enabling users to easily log in with their Github account, improving onboarding. Or mod threads could reference to their Github repo issues. In short, there's a lot you can do with it.

That's from today, maybe five minutes before the post. I guess a mod was fast enough to remove it

Remove all f*cking spammers!

Today I pressed "Report" button about hundred times. And almost nobody before me reported about spam-posts.

Yeah. Looks nice.

I would like to have ability to:
  • like (vote up) post
  • dislike (vote down) post
  • use hashtags (make words as keywords) to search for all posts containing them
  • scroll down instead of pagination
  • sort posts by different criteria (by time (old/new posts first), by votes (more useful posts first), and so on)
I would like to see best parts of social networks and stackoverflow.com voting system.

Admin/moderator can
1) log out user (if he is logged in)
2) change user's password to something difficult like 4PYMs4Ksh6GFP_E_ (just generated for instance)
3) send e-mail to user (registration needs e-mail) with password that he could change later

All fully possible. Plus, that spam situation would not happen in Discourse.

The fact remains that you said admin must ban him. Can you clarify this?
