I'm going to keep this short as it could be considered by some to be off-topic, but...

Is there any way I can build Minetest 5 for iOS myself? There seems to be a lot of ad-filled/crappy Minetest forks on the App Store. I don't mind sideloading it onto my device (as long as it is the official source code). I don't intend on distributing it onto the App Store, either. But I would love to be able to play Minetest on my phone without some scammy app.

Any help is much appreciated.

The official Minetest project doesn't have a way to build for iOS yet, since it's pointless to build in many ways due to how it would be a violation of the App Store terms of service by being GPL (yes, apparently Apple hates Free Software...). Your best bet is probably the MultiCraft engine, but I can't find instructions for building for iOS on their README - either because it's not meant to be there so you have to get their app through the App Store, or because they figure nobody wants to build from source and sideload for iOS. You can install Minetest Game and mods under MultiCraft as well (not guaranteed but likely to work) and it has 0.4.x compatibility and judging by the commit log it seems to keep up with changes in 5.x. Maybe file an issue at MultiCraft asking how to built for iOS?

Coming in to self-report a Minetest Android fork.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... p.nodecore

I made a NodeCore branded fork of Minetest. Free, no ads, and the full source is available. I also did a write-up on the Minetest Wiki containing various notes of the changes I did.

I hope this can prove Minetest's worth as an engine and show that it is indeed possible to distribute a Minetest game independently outside of the Minetest ecosystem. (And that they don't have to be riddled with ads)

Can, I too make a Android fork of my modpacks if free and with no ads...

You can, but you should think about why you want to do that instead of publishing on ContentDB, and the effort it takes to publish to Google Play or F-Droid compared to ContentDB. If you make any engine changes (lua builtin or C++) you must publish those to comply with LGPL. Other peoples' mods (including the mods that make up Minetest Game or other games) are subject to their own licences too, so you have to check all of those.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... raft.world

Have never actually installed this.

But someone on a MT server said that they were using an app called "Kawaii World" to connect.
I'm pretty sure said person said that it has ads.
I speak C++.

answers out of the mod page = easy to know if ads or not:
* ...until it started freezing every second also I've gotten used to the ads so I'm not really annoyed with the ads just the freezing part.
* I don't mind the ads.

are anyone know anything about this?
https://happymod.com/lime-minetest-mod/ ... .Minetest/
First, please never visit random "APK" websites, they're probably putting all kinds of weird cookies on your system and probably have malvertising. A company I used to work for had their app that wasn't available to the public on Google Play put up on one of those sites - don't know how it got there, seems bizarre. Whoever's running these places isn't doing it ethically. I would only recommend F-Droid as an alternative to Google Play.

"Lime Minetest" - I'm not downloading it, that's for sure. It's probably a trojan horse, maybe cheat client or maybe someone just reskinned the GUI or something. Also, last updated 2019 so even if it's not malware it's well behind on security updates. I wouldn't touch it except inside an antivirus lab environment like a virtual machine.

Edit: Read the description a bit better. It says it has a mod downloader. What's the point of that when you have ContentDB? Kind of in the spirit of those APK sites I guess, where you might be able to find more mods than on ContentDB (like how these sites have things that aren't on Google Play). Still, I wouldn't trust it without checking what it's doing first - especially if it's anything like Multicraft and is obfuscated by compiling it to bytecode - ref.

You should have a second system, dual boot - mostly linux - for such sites,
and you can LET scan other pages or files via some webpages, without getting yourself in danger ...

Example: https://scanner.pcrisk.com/#
told : Downloaded, scanned 101 files, later another 25 files, 90 files ...
= Current status: Clean
That is more basic that guessing warnings ...

bad that the domain itself is privacy "Privacy service provided by Withheld for Privacy ehf'
that is not a good turn, when offering a game ! Island ... mhh

nobody noted that many commits are also favored to multicraft? i mean i compared some commit by example about serverlist in multicraft and the same people in minetest already did such commits to hack the list logic and favored to multicraftshit

NOTED when you build your own multicraft the binary does not fill the serverlist, instead fill with "get original cliente" bal bla bla.. this multicrap now seems plans to overpassed hole minetest

unfortunatelly apart of the Contendb tendency to have good licences. in some part of this forum and hole site organization someone said that Contendbcrap is a dictatorship place.. so i guess people prefers then a disctatorship place where "at least think" will have money and fame (gplay and ios)

example: hey Soy_Educado what about contendb?
soyeducado: please that is for geeks, i am player

anoter example: hey Soy_Educado: why you dont use ContenDB?
soyeducado: OldCoder is my friend and i honored him cos he provide many repos to dont forgotten our past

i noted the way multicraftshit has their ios compiling stuffs, maybe that is a way to provide it, i was able to understand how to build in linux and androit using their commits

There once lived another Minetest fork named PlayCraft 3d. I don't want to post the link to the APK, but I do have some gameplay footage from YouTube. It used to live in Google Play when I was younger, but somehow got deleted.

Here's some of them:

I know I heard a person on a server talk about how they use "KawaiiCraft" to play on the server.

"KawaiiCraft" is also old already, I remember that "KawaiiCraft" used from player during my server under MineCraft 2.0.0 years ago.
