Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
Is there lamp(s) in default Minetest Game? Just lamp to hang on the ceiling, not torch.
I mean default Minetest Game, without mods. Mese Lamp is too expensive — three mese crystals!

basic_machines has lights, made from 4 torches.Sergey wrote:Is there lamp(s) in default Minetest Game?

Just needs a constructor to fabricate them...

Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
Xanadu has petroleum lamps. they can be switched on and off.
judging by their textures, i guess they come from the xdecor mod.

Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
You can add the moreblocks mod and use the chainsaw to cut the meselamp into smaller parts. I think this should work
Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
It looks like you need to use some mod, so how about darkage ?Sergey wrote:Many of these are dangerous for health.Wuzzy wrote:These are the light sources in Minetest Game 0.4.15: ..

That has also a decent looking lamp.

Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
Wasn't there a mod that donbatman did with such lamps?
I know VanessaE has a couple of mods with various lights...
Either way, you're going to need to use a mod, or make a very simple one for yourself?
edit: Here you go. I would recommend this, as Don's mods are done very well and, most of them are maintained in Minetest_mods... https://github.com/minetest-mods/mylights I think it has exactly what you're looking for, even though it has to come from adding a mod

Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
The question was if there are lamps in default Minetest game. There are only two items that really qualify as lamps per se: a mese lamp and a post light. And yes, I think the mese lamp is ridiculously expensive.

Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
Note: The mese post lamp is only in the developer version and was a recent addition.
In the developer version the cost of a mese lamp was also reduced from 1 glass and 3 mese crystals to 1 glass and 1 mese crystal.

Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
That is great to hear. This discussion actually prompted me to change the recipe for mese lamps and glow blocks to just one mese crystal each on JT2.
Re: Is there lamp(s) in Minetest Game?
As I already said, mese lamp is very expensive — three mese crystals is needed for it. I know about plan to use one mese crystal. But I think it is expensive anyway. One mese crystal fragment should be fine for the lamp.Wuzzy wrote:Note: The mese post lamp is only in the developer version and was a recent addition.

For example, torch is very cheap — one stick (1/16 of tree block) and one coal lump. A lot of trees and coal around! And even more — stick and coal lump makes four torches at once.
But what about mese lamp? It says "it shines slightly brighter than a torch". So what's the point of it?
By the way, torch is better not only because it is cheap. It is also passable node and therefore it does not hinder moving around.
