Maybe it was you who used swear words in their server name/description?
Hm, I don't see any swear words?.....

I don't remember using swear words in my name or description..... I think the name was "Bilbo's Corner", and the Description was "Baggins has a fancy server now, thanks to mcg :D"
That server was banned too because of what I assume was a misconfiguration on the side of minetesthosting.com.
I'll take a look at it later.

EDIT: The problem is gone now, your server should appear on the list again.

I understand why we shouldn't be able to make backups with the basic plan, but I think we should still be able to download the world.

In setting enable map saving or whateveritscalled. That should work because with a basic plan you hardly ever have very many people....

The domain still exists, but DNS no longer resolves. This could be a technical problem.

sfan5: I have the same problem as BBmine servers.minetest.net/announce not found (HTTP response code said error) (response code 403)
Yet I don't see any swear words in the server name or in the description, can you please fix that for me?

I hope you aren't paying for minetesthosting. If you are you should switch to https://minecity.online/index.php/minetest-hosting because it isn't 3-5 years out of date

When nobody is on minetesthosting servers I'm pretty sure it goes to sleep to save power, removing it from the serverlist

I have not seen a compelling Minetest hosting service. All I've looked into seemed half-baked and dubious. I'd recommend sticking with a VPS from a dedicated hosting provider. They will likely have more dependable and mature infrastructure anyways. I personally prefer self-hosting my server.

Its not too hard to setup a server on a VPS or on your own hardware. The process is essentially: setup a Minetest server process, adjust the config file. Then, you can choose to add a game or mods.

Can you suggest the specifications needed for minetest VPS? like the minimum ram, storage, bandwidth and cpu core requirements? And possibly the number of players it can handle.
Thanks

What would be that compelling feature that makes you choose the hosting over a VPS?

If your connection is capable of doing it the best would be hosting at home. Using any of the dynamic DNS services isn't much of a big deal. Also: you have 100% control over everything and run on the actual hardware instead of in a virtualized environment.

MultiCraft2 (based on MT 5.3.0 IIRC), mods (WIP), player maybe 50 to 100 (just gonna try), mapsize not sure yet

I just moved to a VPS this week. I chose a quad core VPS with SSD's and 6GB of RAM. It really depends on the game that you are running but I think:

minimum would be: Dual Core cpu which good power TDP and IPC, 1-2GB ram, world size can grow with time, so an SSD with a good size would be nice 120GB. 4-16 (guess) players

Recommended: Quad Core, 4GB, 256GB or higher SSD. 16+ players just a guess then just keep doubling the settings for more players you want to add?

Something with a very good user interface, easy to manager from HTTP. Minetest can be complicated, if you're running a basic game or something, maybe it would be easy to just set settings and go, but a lot of servers want to mod and change a lot of things. Something stable, fast, mature, with good customer feedback, good website, support.

That is definitely the best option when available.
