Many users do this kind of threads and at the end the developers not even notice it. It's really up to the developers what it's going to be in Minetest and what not.

Many users do this kind of threads and at the end the developers not even notice it. It's really up to the developers what it's going to be in Minetest and what not.

Buut... No only they can decide what to add. Although they do it for themselves and for players. It means players have a part of this, too!

I think we should optimized the engine to render and generate map faster. For example, I read some where that minetest render each block even if the block is 1 big block. I not programmer, but I read somewhere that lua is some what bottleneck?

Lua is good for registering nodes, items, and tools, and their functions too; the problem comes at coding mapgen, because Lua can't handle this without lagging. Mapgen done with C++ works harder, better, faster, and compared to Lua mapgen somehow stronger.
But adding certain optimizations to mapgen is something that would definitively would be a good option.

as said there is no feature for 0.4.17, if there was 0.4.17 there will be bugfix only. 0.5.0 is the next release

go into the default nodes.lua and change the "length" till you get the speed you like (the lower the number, the faster the animation..., higher number slows it down.)

It would be cool if the frame rate could be defined/altered from within the texture pack itself, with a quick little config file
