What if we add more medieval MMORPG elements into the game (quests, npcs, monsters/mobs, equips), we could have a main server where we can make our own "continents". Also, we could add a Capture the flag mode into the game as well. Another thought I had was programmable NPCs that could harvest/mine renewable blocks for you. Lastly, I was thinking maybe adding more inventory space perhaps?
^^
I actually +1 these ideas. :)

I'm pretty happy with the game the way it is. I just wish there were more dungeons and "natural" cave systems. Also, has anyone discovered what causes the FPS issue? I still have it. >.>

Quite a lot of nice ideas there jordan4ibanez, some I'm not too sure about though but on the whole pretty nice list.

-when the player walks do you think you could add some walking animation to the camera? < This is already in the latest version

I especially like these ideas:
-and when you jump you could add a little dip (like your crouching to jump) and then when you land you could dip again!
-when you fall, instead of making the screen red..and instead of just bobbing to the left like minecraft..do you think you could make the camera shake?
-you should be able to run!

Not checked bitbucket, I use github so thats where I've been grabbing the latest source from https://github.com/celeron55/minetest. Also the latest released version has the view bobbing in to (http://celeron.55.lt/minetest/download.php).

You can run in minetest. Just enable fast_move by pressing "j", then hold down "e" while walking normally. But be careful, this makes you go so fast that you take fall damage on even a really shallow hill.

no i mean real running! lol not like that ..like at a normal running speed..and having the guy bob more when he runs..and the bobbing could be a little bit stronger when you walk so its noticeable :P also there should be a hand for when your not selecting anything

haven't played for long, but i like it, never played minecraft, like my oss.

Simple idea:
1: drop down list for previously visited servers, don't have to refer to wiki all the time then.

Not so simple:
2: simple XP system like in Enemy Territory, not so complicated like an RPG, just faster digging/crafting/more health/more storage. It should promote a little attachment to the character for the player, a sort of reason to keep playing on that server and thus (hopefully) less griefing since people won't want their chars deleted. But its important that its not too complicated, the game is about making stuff not grinding.

Hard
3:Hinges, i know a programming pain, but imagine the stuff you could build! simple doors drawbridges, pretty much everything in engineering could be done by hinges, could do a flying airship with boarding ramps,not sure how hard it would be to move blocks in one whole ship/vehicle bit i can dream! just not program :(

Hi,
i just downloaded mintest (mac) a few days ago and i love it.
Never played minecraft..
I allready spent (wasted ;) ) so much time on my world creating house and other stuff.

i also have a few ideas for the future..

RPG - System:
This was requested allready.. im sure, but as i love rpgs it would love to see this in minetest.
How about a crafting skill that increases if you do and gain knowledg.
Like at the beginning you can only creat the wood tools, with stone or metall.
Also those first tools wont last long because the are poorly crafted but as your skill improve those tools last longer and you gain the knowledge to combine different components. (like stone or metal tools)
The same system could be for fighting experience, like in any other RPGs.

for the future a magic system (combining ingriedients) or long range weapons. Ammunition could be done by crafting too (arrows= 1 stick + 1 metal)

Edit Books/Papers, Bookshelf:
I guess this is allready planned. But just in case its not... :)
It would be great to edit Books like Signs.
I think about custom Title and the abbility to write more stuff in it, so you could create a Guest Book where all people could write their name in it.
Bookshelfs could turn into containers (only for Books and Papers)

Regrowing Plants/Trees:
Another thing i would love to see is regrowing plants and trees.
maybe if you let the stump (or roots) a kept in place trees and plants grow back.
Another idea would be that if all wood of a tree is collected that after a day or two the "flying" leaves automaticly disappear.

User created Content:
My last idea is user created content without dev experience.
I know you can allready easily create texture packs, which is nice, but it would be very cool to create also new materials/monsters/maybe even items for your server/world.
The information for those new content could be saved in config files that containt the basic data:

float/fly = Yes/no
texture/model = ....
transparency = yes/no
physical coniditon = liquid / massive / and so on...
melt = yes/no
does damage to player = yes/no
how much = ...
collectable = yes/no
how easy to destroy/which tool = ...
does attack player = yes/no
speed = ...

and so on.

Anyway, great work!!!
Thanks to anyone who is involved in this project!

You can already plant seeds of plants.

With minecraft becoming a rpg there is a opening for a minecraft type of game that concentrates on crafting to survive, a concept which many feel minecraft should have stayed with instead of heading into the realm of fantasy.
