Yeah, the biggest problem right now is that minetest.net is basically broken.
Just fix the JavaScript dependency. Sorry, I don't even want to argue about this anymore.

What if we pick from those good screenshots which have been posted by many users?

Because it's a website made by devs who tried to make a modern website but have no idea how to make modern websites.

There is a pretty inactive GitHub repo for the website with the last REAL update on August 16, 2017. Maybe we should flood this repo with issues and pull request to wake up the devs that feel responsible for the site.

I think you should start working from the new website rather than the old one!

:D that's probably true ! It looks as modern as a Lada. But three times more useless.

That an option, I could also do an *issue bot* that would do this 24/24h

I'm not a web designer. I know how to do stuff but I am not good at the actual design part, so no, that won't happen :)

When you see how they killed the website with javascript and horrible CSS... better start from scratch! what were the others contestant for the website change?

Part of the reason the website is not being changed or worked on is because BlockMen, last I heard, has moved on, and he was mostly in charge of the Minetest website. I think Calinou at one point had worked on it, but what's there now is BlockMen's work afaik.

If one wants to go and change the site, the source code is all there on the Minetest GitHub repo, and can be easily changed. If you want to redesign the site, go ahead and give your attempt at doing so, while keeping in mind what other people are saying. Don't replace bad with just as bad or worse. If you can't do so, then I would suggest just making a feature list that you'd like to see instead of making comments that are useless.

Bad example:
It doesn't work
Good example:
Just fix the JavaScript dependency. It can break things and is just not a good idea to use.
Bad example:
It looks stupid or ugly
Good example:
The screenshots are outdated and the design looks odd in *specific area*

A solution to the unnecessary JS dependency for basic functionality: https://codepen.io/anon/pen/LOOpvV (no styling, just functionality)

And it's possible to do that? why the hell did they choose js to do that?

Because JS has been a popular solution for a long time, its just less and less popular now. People still get stuck in the old ways of doing things because its what they know how to do and its easy.

Because the current solution “provides a good-looking responsive navbar”. Not that this white bar with dropdown indicators is anything spectacular in design or complicated to re-create the functionality without Javascript, but hey, I guess not having to write a little CSS is the official statement against making the site accessible.

If you used a tiny bit of the effort you're spending bitching into actually making a pr the JavaScript dependency could be fixed by now.

Okay Sir.

PS: please use a more decent language :)

EDIT: Stated working on it. Looks very promising actually! the css might not be more than 50 lines long. I even found another tiny error on minetest.net... When you go on customize and click subgame you're send to customize anyway.

I did by creating a working CSS only drop-down menu but …

No-one cares and the only person reacting is against it.

Better have the image and text outside and have the header flex, too.

https://codepen.io/anon/pen/VryGwY?editors=1100

All that now has to be done is adding the right CSS for styling :)
