Goodbye (For now)

Today I'm leaving Minetest, I'm chasing different goals now.

Minetest was fun and I enjoyed the community and I made hobby out of Modding and made a few (mostly failures), most obviously Prehistoric Life.

I'm going to do youtube now and would just like to thank the community for their help and tolerating my ignorance.

Stick with your interest in Paleontology, lots of fun, interesting work and $ in that field.
I often wish I had kept to my interest in it as a boy, and possibly pursued a career in it.

Welp, I just realized you have to have 4000 hours of view time and 1000 subs for monetization. So I'm back I guess, not because I won't make money from youtube but because I don't want to support a company like this who lies by claiming they support small channels and then ####ing them over.

I got that e-mail yesterday as well, insane!!! Great knowing that even though I have over 2 million views, and around 3k subscribers on video tutorials for kids (and adults), I can't make anything. Woo!!

This has annoyed me too. I only make about £3 a year from YouTube, but it's paid out to me because the ads on my site are enough to exceed the payout limit. I hope if we're not allowed to monetise we can at least disable ads

To make matters worse, I had 3546 views last year which puts me 54 below the limit - Edit: the limit is watch time not views, and there's also a subscriber limit.

Some good news is apparently Amazon is creating a competitor. Hopefully they are better to their creators!
