Hi,
Maybe my question is a little weird... but I want to know if there is a method (in console maybe) to know if there is lava on my server.
Because some player don't find lava lake, neither me :)
[Solved]How can I know if there is lava on my server ?

v6 can have lava even at low depth, but only is small puddles.
in v5 and v7 you have to go deeper to find lava, but when you find some it's much more.
the chance to find lava is higher the deeper you go, since the size of caves and lava lakes increases.

Re: How can I know if there is lava on my server ?
I once digged and explored down to nearly -20000 and all the way down I've seen 2-3 lava "lakes" (more like small ponds and a lava fall) in total. On another map there were lava figuratively everywhere. So it highly depends on seed, I guess.
You could enable fastmove, freemove and noclicp and fly straight down and look out for lava to be sure.

Yep, it's what I do, so I'll continue to explore deeper untill I find a lava lake :) Thanks a lot Linuxdirk.Linuxdirk wrote:You could enable fastmove, freemove and noclicp and fly straight down and look out for lava to be sure.

Re: How can I know if there is lava on my server ?
Every mapgen has lava, seed has no effect on the total amount of lava, just changes the distribution.
If digging straight down it is luck how soon you find lava.
In mgv6 lava starts at y = -32, in all other mapgens it starts at y = -256.

OK thanks paramat !
So it's a mapgen v7 so start at y=-256.
I could tell this to my players :) And I find one with noclip at y=-1600.
