Minimod you can activate in any game with default. I put coments at the important lines. Also added water for y<0 so it isn't comletely baren.

@Skamiz : your experiments get more and more interesting and impressive. I'll post here a series of screenshots of my tweaking of v7, it's noteworthy for its semi-realistic single biome covering the whole area of the world.

Here is the gallery of the "nordic" tweaking of v7. The whole world is covered either by taiga, snow or ice. And, of course, there's plenty of deep canyons and precipices.
