Add a captcha in the forum registration.

This is MOST secure method from annoying spamming on the forum. Currently, it's just requires to enter missing phrases in the sentence. The bots see the text field and they can easily pick up the necessary words and so, easily register.

I agree that we need something, but not ReCAPTCHA. Perhaps something simple but difficult for a bot to solve because it's abstract.

Code: Select all
Please spell this word correctly: suprise

Code: Select all
Please write "I am not a bot"

Code: Select all
Please write the sum of five and six

So you give examples of how it shouldn't be?

There's this... but it costs... $8/year which is outrageous! (embrace the sarcasm)
I'll donate the $8.00USD ; )
https://cleantalk.org/

There are other costs for more features I would not mind helping to pay. Seems it would be worth it.
Imagine though, if services like this are actually creating spambots? :D

But such low costs to reduce the time of staff as well as having an actual company handle it?
Seems like a good idea to me

I visit this forum often and have never noticed a major spam problem. And as RW and others mention, there's more to some Captcha services than some users are willing to submit to.
