13.04 didn't drop any hardware support as far as I know, though it can be a PITA to upgrade if you have an old AMD graphics card and you're using Catalyst.
I have a ATI Radeon HD4250 which AMD decided to drop support for, for some unknown reason, i can't upgrade because it's on a laptop

Currently using Minetest 0.4.7 Ubuntu Daily Build on Ubuntustudio 13.10 Saucy Salamander 64bit (based on Ubuntu 13:10)

I use Debian Sid/experimental on my computer,
and aptosid Thanatos when I play on my brother's computer.

@ shadowwraith: You should try the radeon free driver instead of the fglrx non-free one if AMD dropped support for your card.
PM me if you need help on that subject.

Which mobs mod? Simple Mobs is quite lightweight, I can spawn more than 30 mobs + a large forest fire without dropping below 35 FPS (lots of leaves and fire to render) and no lag (when typing commands, local server).

Trisquel GNU/Linux. This is the only OS I currently use, though I have an interest in trying Parabola GNU/Linux at some point in the future.

I use Ubuntu 13.04 (and run MT with it) on my Packard Bell Easynote TS and it works good. I managed to use optirun with my nvidia card and since, I don't have to use W7 to run minetest.

Windows XP due to family reasons. But runs better on Xubuntu 13.04
7:42 PM - Bauglio: I think if you go to staples you could steal firmware from a fax machine that would run better than win10 does on any platform
7:42 PM - Bauglio: so fudge the stable build
7:43 PM - Bauglio: get the staple build

Linux Lite 1.0.6
Linux lite is the only ubuntu based distro that is lightweight, and dose not care about being real flashy.
