I don't really care how the menus look as long as they get the job done. What I would really like are the options in the second mockup (and other options you currently have to edit in the config file to change).
For what it's worth, I like the icon method of selecting the game that was recently introduced better than a list or radiobuttons.

Here's another screenshot/mockup/aka - not real. It's the Sign editor GUI. This one is without the Hint Notification.
Download the .PSD in the First post.

Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA?

I really like your ideas, but you can change something, like the colours or The background... So it is an other interface which would be nice! I love your bioms selection! this should be addet in the game!
And You're right: There should be more options in the pause "menu" So I don't have to close the world to change the texture pack...
All in all these are nice ideas...

You're free to modify it. The .PSD is on the first post and can be downloaded. Have a go.BlauerEisRegen wrote:I really like your ideas, but you can change something, like the colours or The background... So it is an other interface which would be nice! I really do wish that these HUDs were more than mockups.

Nicey.
It's not really like Minecraft, it's just the blurred backround that is similar.
This GUI could be added to the 0.4.8, it would make minetest more fresh and exciting.
BTW, how do i install this?

Can you render this with a GTK+2 like appearance, just for grins? :-)

I was thinking along the lines of the Clearlooks theme.

This is a great initiative. It does not only show that the layout/style can be improved but also the need for some consistency(which can only be reached with clear guidelines). I'm sure this can be done by requiring programmers to use pre defined UI elements(which can be derived and programmed from the existing UI elements).
BUT
The ingame UI is more urgent. Modders should be able to edit the default UI without any glitches and workarounds. Especially the default inventory item place-holders. I notice that many servers have a nice player inventory but the chest etc etc inventories are not consistent with the player inventory.
In short, agree that the game menus can use some updating. (It has come a far way from the early days), but ingame menus default visuals should be editable by the modder/server host as it is seen the most by players.
Even shorter, consistency consistency consistency till you drop.
