Re: Post your videos!
A cinematic I did with some stuttery footage of the 2-week-long HOMETOWN build competition that was held in May:

Anyone happen to have some tips to optimize OBS to make it less stuttery? :P

Hmm, azekill_DIABLO made a client side mod which was called "rec-a-mt", and worked quite well.

Yes, but that CSM is much more suited for very long timelapses. It's great because it requires no addition CPU-intensive software for recording, but since it saves in screenshots it isn't suited for real-time footage. Not only is there a slight pause whenever a screenshot is saved, but you can't reasonably expect to record in screenshots at even 30 FPS. I recorded a total of 35 minutes of raw footage for that video at 30 FPS, that's 63000 individual images I'd need to work with :PLMD wrote:Hmm, azekill_DIABLO made a client side mod which was called "rec-a-mt", and worked quite well.
EDIT: Thanks for the input though :D

There's cinematic mode in minetest: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... xample#L42
On linux you can start minetest without vertical synchronisation:
$ vblank_mode=0 minetest
Note that this may cause tearing which is undesirable.
You can't simply take 63000 images, each screenshot may take a megabyte, 63 GB is a lot.

I did use cinematic mode, the gameplay was much smoother than the recording. Post-processing to stabilize just isn't as good as smooth recording.Hybrid Dog wrote:There's cinematic mode in minetest: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... xample#L42
I had vsync off, and a couple shaders disabled (I didn't want them all off)Hybrid Dog wrote: On linux you can start minetest without vertical synchronisation:

Yes :P it's totally impractical. Not to mention the slight pause would make it unplayable, and likely unable to even record at that framerate.Hybrid Dog wrote: You can't simply take 63000 images, each screenshot may take a megabyte, 63 GB is a lot.

In my opinion a cave can easily be changed to a room for living after firstly removing single nodes from the walls.

For your interest, I forked the replacer mod and added a field replace mode where whole walls (or stripes) can be placed or replaced at once: https://github.com/hybriddog/replacer

Cool, I will check that out. I always liked to build into the side of a mountain or cave. There are endless possibilities and one does not run out of space when building under ground!
