Re: Post your videos!
awesome how did you do that?
Re: Post your videos!
its a part of XaEnvironment's exatec (like mesecons) as luacontrolers (pcb in this game) can run code, mobs can store the code and run it in same way but with supported functions.awesome how did you do that?
when the mobs are storing the code they will run it and add them self to the users profile list so those are able.
i will make, atleast npc's able to mine, pashfinding, pick up items take/put in chests too.

I'm testing the acoustic transform function of my virtual nightclub game for Minetest engine 5.3 which integrates with the Web Audio API of Chrome for manipulating a live SHOUTcast audio feed transmitted over HTTP. The effects chain consists of convolver, low-pass filter, stereo pan, and gain nodes all of which are computed based on the listener's position with respect to the dancefloor.
The end-result is a very realistic and immersive experience for clubgoers.

Video request: Show off core features
Hey, I have a video request:
To outsiders, Minetest is still very strange, and many get a bad impression cuz MTG.
Tbh, Minetest is really not the perfect game engine, however I still feel like Minetest is also advertised completely wrong.
Almost always the first thing that newbiews see about Minetest is MTG. This sucks.
How about making a video for complete newcomers, showing off what Minetest can do (beyond MTG)?
I like to have a Minetest video that shows the core features. For example:
I know this will be a lot of work, but it might help the Minetest community a bit, who knows? :-)

I like to have a Minetest video that shows the core features. For example:
- multiple example games (games that you like)
- multiple example servers, show off that servers can be wildly different yet everything works out of the box
- Ideally, it becomes clear that games and servers can differ notably
- Interesting gameplay footage from different games/servers
- Content DB
- Messing around with settings or mapgen
- Other things you think are interesting
I know this will be a lot of work, but it might help the Minetest community a bit, who knows? :-)

Re: Video request: Show off core features
I need to learn...a lot...how do I respond to selected points of your list is the question this time.Wuzzy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 00:10Hey, I have a video request:

I like to have a Minetest video that shows the core features. For example:This is just an outline, you probably have better ideas than me. The main goal here is to demonstrate to complete newcomers is that Minetest is much more than just MTG, to make MT look interesting.

As I do not know I'll do it like this:
First (before getting to your list)...for newbies (like me, sort of)...I doubt that the problem is MTG itself. How would a newbie come to trying Minetest in the first place? At least for me it was like this and I doubt that really many people have different stories: More or less accidentally while searching my package manager for Minecraft.
It is what 'we' know from Minecraft. But it just is less. No mods installed? Nothing even similar to the game we newbies know.
I remember installing Minetest in my linux distribution of choice; didn't know anything about it; well, quite a long time ago (early stages of MInecraft even), so I (as a complete newcomer) was given an experience of boring "nothing". The most interesting that game seemed to offer was 'tok...tok...tok...' sounds while walking above terrain that seemingly didn't want to change regardless of how far I walk. Just stone. Some coal here and there (I think). But ultimately...just nothing (more interesting than banging my head to the wall). Maybe my expectations just weren't right.
Today I believe back then it may have been necessary to install both minetest and some additional package (totally not sure, though) so I believe I just had the minimal test environment ready and (not even) MTG.
Now to the list:
1) Errmm, the concept of multiple games 'explained' to the newbie (who is, in my opinion of course, just someone who looks for something similar to or is (for whatever reason) bored or 'just done' with Minecraft?) - Don't think that anything different than modded MTG will attract those.
2) Presenting servers, while totally not mine, do make a lot of sense, I think. But there is the point before #1). When I do query YouTube for minetest...on purpose, obviously (why would the newbie do that when he does not even know it?), there IS a good amount of videos that showcase different servers. (But we're talking about 100 videos as 'good amount')
3) and 4) see above [Yeah too short an answer but still, I believe the common newbie is one who ditched Minecraft for one or another reason (or how else would he know about Minetest and how does posting better vids of an quite unknown Software help in this regard? - how many people just get Minetest suggested when watching stuff on YouTube? - how many people do search for Minetest there? How would better vids help this case?)]
5) ContentDB (more or less the same as mc.curseforge.stuff (u know what I mean, don't ya?)) or the ingame mod browser? Later is a really cool thing (actually in this regard making it superior to competitors) but introduces problems itself. You CAN of course install nearly every relevant mod without searching websites for it. But...there is NO information, that mod "a" might for whatever reason not be compatible with mod "b"...but still it let's you install both.
6) "Messing around with...": You really believe you want to make this more popular? To Newbies? Hmm...does not exactly sound like the stuff people, who just want to play a nice game, would want.
I do know that most of my posts read like I am an complete idiot and asshole...that's fine. Let me assure you that in my own way I also want the best for this project...just I stopped being 'the believer' a long time ago.
