Question: what means [quicktune]Selected "(nothing)"

by rubberduck » Post

when i press the 1 or 7 (numpad only), minetest says me: [quicktune]Selected "(nothing)"

what does this mean and what is this for?

when i press 9 or 3 it says: [quicktune] "(nothing)" = (none).

(i use arrowkeys for controlling and sometimes i press the 1 which is next to the up-key in my case)

You can select an item to wield from your topmost inventory row by using the scroll wheel of your mouse - or by typing a number between 1 and 7. The message shown may be debug info related to that.

But, why it happens if I press PageUp and PageDown?

Guess that's because they're part of the number block on the keyboard? Someone forgot to remove a debugging option. If it bothers you, file an issue on GitHub :-)

Hey there... 2022, and it still does this...
Would be nice to be able to select a tool with numpad keys...

Quicktune is off in release builds. It's a tool for engine development, and won't be useful for users. See src/util/quicktune.h for details.
he/him; Codeberg; GitHub; ContentDB; public personal TODO list; "DS" is preferred (but often too short)

It's not, the keybinds are still there... I swear I opened a PR to fix this.

Edit: I had completely forgotten to open the PR... #12779 is now a thing.

Aand the PR has now been merged, quicktune keybinds are only set in debug builds now.
