HDX is compatible with technic, however texture packs are rarely "incompatible" with a mod.

Normally the only way that will happen is if some of the overlaid images in your game/mods are unsupported -- but all that will do is cause images to not show up properly (i.e. too small). For example, if you have some mod that supplies a node that's overlaid onto grass, and your texture pack only supplies grass and dirt at some higher resolution, but does not supply the extra textures that special node needs, the mod's own textures will be used, and will be too small.

Another way a texture pack can be "incompatible" is if it needs more RAM than your machine can supply. HDX-512 when used with Dreambuilder can take up to 14GB of RAM in extreme circumstances (though usually it needs "only" about half of that). This will cause either Minetest or your whole OS to crash, depending on how it handles out-of-memory conditions.

That said, neither of these would be likely to cause the sort of error you're talking about with Technic. I can only assume your copy of technic is too new for the Minetest engine version you're running.

* Re-added support for signs_lib's wooden wall and locked signs and all the various metal signs.
* Added support for new ones recently added to the mod by cheapie.
* Re-added support for homedecor's generic metals
* Refreshed homedecor's brass and wrought iron signs-on-fences to match the related metals.
* Re-added homedecor generic woods.
* Added homedecor terrycloth
* Added homedecor generic plastic
* Added homedecor bed bottom and metal sides
* Re-added homedecor cardboard boxes
* Added homedecor chimney top texture
* Re-added homedecor curtains
* Re-added various kitchen cabinet/counter tops and kitchen sink
* Added homedecor copper and steel wire and strips
* Added homedecor brass and steel chainlinks
* Re-added window shutters
* Added filing cabinet images

* Re-added speaker front cloth
* Added desk front drawers.
* Re-added some missing homedecor/3dforniture marble textures

This should at least bring support back to the point it was at before kilbith and I made all those models and did the image-usage rework, with some new stuff that wasn't supported before. Enjoy!

Small update: dropped support for the old plantlife modpack mushrooms mod; repurposed its images for use by minetest_game's default mushrooms.

Update: reworked all of the default ores, stone, stuff derived from it, a couple of glowstone images, all of the "mossy" textures, and gloopblocks basalt.

EDIT: reworked stone stuff again -- I decided I hated the first rework. :-) Also reworked gravel and acacia wood.

EDIT: reworked obsidian and obsidian glass

EDIT: reworked gloopblocks pumice, cement, and pavement, and added default obsidian bricks.

EDIT: minor tweak to colors of desert stone and derivatives.

EDIT: minor tweak to colors of desert cobble

sorry for stupid question ....

I had download the full pack of 64x (hdx-64) and unzip/move to /usr/share/games/minetest/textures

I am also modify /etc/minetest/minetest.conf, add following line :

texture_path = /usr/share/games/minetest/textures/hdx-64

then restart minetest server.

But, When I lunch remote client. Don't see any change.

It's some thing I am doing wrong ? Can anyone let me know how to correct install texture pack.

Thanks.

PS: I am using Ubuntu 14.10 and Minetest 0.4.13 as server. (ip:a.a.a.a)
Both test windows client (0.4.13)/ubuntu client 0.4.13. on remote site (ip:b.b.b.b)

Textures packs are client-side, not server-side. The texture pack should be installed on every client.
Another solution is manually replacing every texture in the subgame and mods by the matching texture from HDX, one by one.

You should rather install texture packs in /home/your_name/.minetest/textures and edit /home/your_name/.minetest/minetest.conf. (of course replace your_name by the name of your personal folder). The ".minetest" directory is made for that. Ctrl+H to show/hide it.
Just realize how bored we would be if the world was perfect.

1- Go to mods directory and create an folder called mytextures
2- Create an empty init.lua and depends.txt in it
3- Put all mods name to depends.txt with the question mark. for exp default? chakram?
4- Create textures folder and put your textures inside the folder

then activate it as a mod in game. Now your textures are server side

It's supposed to be "textured", but if you mean noisy, that's not in the textures, it's due to how they're being displayed. You can fix that by turning on anisotropic filtering and mip-mapping in your settings.

Sorry, that repository was deleted long ago. I don't distribute normalmaps for HDX anymore, as what I had was already quite outdated and didn't even cover half of the content of the texture pack.

Didn't know that. Just pointing it out :)

Then again, if you don't know, you can't fix it.

This texture pack EATS 7.3GB of RAM. Out of 8GB.

That's expected depending on what subgame and/or mods you're using.

From the first post, "The worst case scenario I've run into is that HDX 512px can cause Minetest to take as much as 12 GB of RAM, [...]".

As I said, they were outdated and didn't cover nearly as much of the texture pack as I'd have liked. Plus, they could have been done better.
