No need to rename when it comes to texture packs but, for neatness simply move into your textures directory and edit to Minetest Game 0.4.16

I'll probably add the textures from the other MTG mods later tonight. This is just to create an archive of these textures due to any changes.

Looks like texture preservation/archival. MTG mod textures should be preserved in git.
