it's really good, but I always prefer skins with shadows and just a small amount of variation between the pixels so that they don't look so square and create a little bit of life and authenticity. Could you do a version where there are some shadow accents, there's a bit of color variation in the clothe pixels (not all the same tint blue) and the face isn't uniformly pink?

I've seen this kind of skin before, and I can try it when I do it next time. You can also modify the skin according to the CC BY-SA 4 license.

I'm wondering how to make a skin of my own. Are there any tools available for making a skin in Minetest? Do I need to install a mod to be able to use/import it?

There are a number of tools available. One method is to use a Minecraft Skin Editor and then convert it for use on Minetest with a tool like the one from The Pixel Shadow.

The skin format of MC is different from that of the Minetest SkinSDB (the left and right hands of the extremities are opposite, the small part of the extremities is the same as the MC.) So, it can be used to slightly change the above Mt.

Thank you, dawgdoc, for the links! I have made a skin and downloaded it to my own computer, but I'm wondering how I would get my skin onto someone else's server without appealing to the sysadmin via email. Is there some method on the client side to apply the skin to my avatar? I'd really like to have a consistent look to my avatar, while it has a unique appearance.

I'm not aware of a way to do so on a server, it seems that you have to request help from an admin/moderator. I don't think client side methods would change your appearance to other players.
