Slowly making my own texture pack for Minetest / voxel type games.
If I ever finish it I'll share it :)
Putting this here to remind me.

I may make the (very few) textures I currently have available, if there's interest. I'm sure there are plenty of glitches in them, but that's part of being a work in progress.

Very pleasant, I'll probably use it in my survivals. Those torches are a nice addition.

:D Let me know when your videos are up. I'll have to take a look at your channel.

I'll be gradually adding more textures. Will post to this thread whenever an updated pack is available. Send anyone who's interested this way.

If you use the "non-commercial" version of that license, no one who has monetization set for their youtube ch will be able to use the pack in a video (such as most in this community who do reviews)

That is a point. If I don't specify non-commercial I risk others ripping my textures though.

My intention was not to prevent people making videos. Video-makers may use this pack in monetised Minetest videos if they wish. I make no claim to their earnings from said videos. I do ask for an attribution though.

I would add such permissions in a .txt file (possibly title permissions.txt) within the folder itself, as your post above this could get lost to easy visibility as this thread grows over time.
It just makes it easier for the ones who wish to feature it in videos, etc..

NC is a nice protection for an artist but, it does tend to be a bit restrictive as well. It still has room for improvement.

You are quite right. I will add a permissions notice in future versions.

Unfinished. Provided as is.

"permissions.txt" reads:
Release 001 - Petallic edition 26 April 2018

FAQ

Q. "Can I use this texturepack in my Let's Play / Mod Spotlight / How to Play videos?"
A. Yes.

Q. "Can I monetise these videos?"
A. Yes.

Q. "Do I need to pay the pack creator?"
A. No, but make sure to give attribution either in the video itself or the description. (... But if you really want to give me money I accept PayPal at: [REDACTED] )

The original creator of this pack extends permission for its use in monetised videos providing that it is properly attributed.
The original creator makes no claim to any of the profits from said videos and considers them to be the creative work of the video-makers alone.

If you remove the NC part of the license it won’t be red-flagged and demoted on Content DB. You already allow commercial use by allowing monetizing video so you might as well lose it. No one will try to sell it, I promise you.

No, that's not a promise you can keep, as you can't control what some people will do.

-NC is almost always unneccessary to prevent exploitation, but it deals collatteral damage to our free and open community of Minetest. -NC licenses are considered “non-free” licenses, as they are against essential user freedoms.
There are other reasons why -NC should be avoided: https://freedomdefined.org/Licenses/NC

Summary:
- They make your work incompatible with a growing body of free content, even if you do want to allow derivative works or combinations.
- They may rule out other basic and beneficial uses which you want to allow.
- They support current, near-infinite copyright terms.
- They are unlikely to increase the potential profit from your work, and a share-alike license serves the goal to protect your work from unethical exploitation equally well.
Simple example: If someone would try to use your texture pack (licensed CC BY-SA-NC) and combine it with another texture pack under a free share-alike license (like CC BY-SA), it is illegal by default. As basically 99% of all Minetest community works in our forums are on a free license, many of them with a share-alike clause, this is a problem.
Read https://freedomdefined.org/Licenses/NC to understand why.

Please read https://freedomdefined.org/Licenses/NC and make an informed decision. Thanks for your time reading this post.
