Should I have copyright or use a commons for my texture pack
I have seen copyright for texture packs other people made. Should I have one for mine, or is not necessary.

You have a copyright on whatever image, text (and code) or sound you produce as long as you can prove you're the author.
Nobody can copy it until you give some rights on it.
Licenses are there for that. You can sell licenses or automatically give some rights to anybody.
That's up to you.

Addition:
- If you distribute your stuff and want people be legally able to use it, you HAVE TO give them a license.
- If you want to promote your distribution on this forum, the license have to be a free license (free like in free software: GPL, CC, ...).

Wait, so you can't have people download your texture pack license free.Pyrollo wrote:Addition:

Re: Should I have copyright or use a commons for my texture
The license is what tells people that "yes, you're allowed to download and use this texture pack". Most licenses also allow the users to modify and redistribute the texture pack. Without a license, people won't know what they're allowed to do with it.Menetorplayz wrote: Wait, so you can't have people download your texture pack license free.
If your goal is to just give the textures to whoever wants them, you might be happy with CC-0 (creative commons license) or CC-BY-SA (the "by" means the name of the author has to be mentionned; "sa" means: share-alike).
