I'm voting for the Ancient Pack.

It's gorgeous and different enough from Minecraft so newcomers may have less chances to call this a ripoff instead of an alternative.

I change my mind => Cisoun's texture pack (sorry)

Ps: Is all the texture pack's licenses free/libre ?

You're breaking my almost-fibonacci sequence :(

Regarding the license question, anything that goes into default will have to be CC BY-SA. Almost MC and Gridtoon are, Cisoun already agreed to it for the win32 builds (I think), and hmmm's pack has to be since it's derived from the default pack. I don't really know about the others. But this is OT in this thread :)

Ancient Pack & Adventure pack
Would be cool to see someone transform some MCs texture packs into minetest

I'm risking being flagged but... Isn't it enough to say that Minetest is not Minecraft? Lets use this opportunity to part waters and each go its separate way.

Minetest is not Minecraft. Stop trying to make them look alike.

I would at least like an in-game texture changer. I noticed I can start a game with one texture, then log out. Then change the texture and log back in. So couldn't there be a side menu where you could pick a different texture pack in the menu and it just redirect where it loads the texture pack from? It's just a thought

That and some better instructions about how to install new textures.

Preliminary results, updated. The vote isn't over yet!

Note: If someone voted for multiple packs, I've counted each as one vote here. This vote count is not going to be binding, it's just a rough estimate. Of course there's also the possibility that the default texture pack will be a mix of the best textures of the most popular packs.

7 votes: Almost MC (by G4JC)

@Menche
Done, kind of misread your post. I added you to both before because this isn't a completely official vote (in the sense that whatever gets the most votes would automatically become default), so I just wanted to list how many people like each pack.

Oh ok, I just wanted to point out that while I like both, I prefer Cisoun's over the two. I should reread my own posts before posting, that was a bit more demanding than I intended it to sound.

I vote for the Default textures.
The current textures are part of Minetest's identity and they aren't that awful anyways.

But if they must be changed, I would choose Cisoun's Texture Pack as a worthy replacement.
I made the original door textures, that's why they look so ugly.
My old mods, now on GitHub.

I think it's time to make a votes recount.
