Also, Minetest 0.4.16 with simple Lua for people who have problems with frequent Lua OOM errors on heavy modpacks: https://kitsunemimi.pw/tmp/minetest-0.4 ... t-win64.7z (by sfan5)

:) I started out testing Sfan5's "minetest-0.4.16-win64.7z 0.4.16 Stable + Latest64" and just a few simple mods. Mostly my own stuff and worldedit. So smooth, sweet and stable.
Then I started adding mods in to test. I suspect that a lot of mods need a bunch of fixing up for 4.16 cause a lot of mods go Kablooie! If you add the right mods, you get two types of identical tin. Fun what you can find before you go Kablooie!

I will try the simple Lua cause out of memory is the word I keep seeing!

Bug: eyelevel is at height 3 now?
Ie. when walking thru a door, vision goes black because head/eyes are 'in the stone' above the door.

Going back to 0.4.16, everything is still working fine.

I think that's beause of the player collisionbox changes.
0.5 is going to be a breaking release, meaning you won't be able to use 0.5 to play on 0.4.x servers

So, it might be a good idea to show the version a server is running on the serverlist ?

This one is golden, Sfan5! Stable, fast, well done, really. Falling seems really stable this time.

The only downside I have found is that I can't figure out how to get the server to allow me to use the minimap.

There are a few big differences in the game that matter. I don't think they are bad, just different. Diamond doesn't show up till you are way deep.

The current version is good and the build is good. Thanks, Sfan5 and all the crew that have been working hard to code this.

This one doesn't work on Win 7 (32 bit), but previous 0.5 builds worked. Error when trying to run:
Image

There is no other error or log so no way to find out whats wrong.

There is option to debug in visual studio but no useful errors are shown after pressing "start" in visual studio debugger

The 32-bit build of 0.5.0-c830347 indeed seems to be broken (64-bit works), not sure whats causing that.

I usually use the 32 bit version because it is more stable, but I try the 64 bit version out first. In this case, the 64 bit version has been so solid that I never had the need.

Re: [Windows] sfan5's builds: 32-bit & 64-bit, LevelDB, LuaJ

by sfan5 » Sat Oct 28, 2017 16:49

I've figured out the problem:

Minetest crashes because of a (supposedly) unhandeled SettingNotFoundException.
This exception happens from a call to getFlag("help") in main.cpp,
the corresponding function in settings.cpp (bool Settings::getFlag(const std::string &name)) does have a try-catch but the compiler acts as if it never existed.

The bad news is that I have had this exact problem with MinGW before and there is no way to fix it.
All I can do is recompile a newer version of gcc and pray it doesn't happen again.

code is: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... s.cpp#L596
Code: Select all
bool Settings::getFlag(const std::string &name) const

So error must then happen in L599: getBool(name);

Here is explanation of "const" after function
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=c%2B%2B+const ... =qa&iax=qa

definition of "getBool" class method :
https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... s.cpp#L382
contains only
Code: Select all
return is_yes(get(name))

Here is "get" https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... s.cpp#L373 and here
https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... ing.h#L320 is "is_yes"
Code: Select all
inline bool is_yes(const std::string &str)

I don't really know C++ but i like to learn new stuff. Maybe its some compiler setting that causes to just ignore code?
