Where can I find the latest info on the game? Also will there be an iOS version? Because I plan on getting an iPod Touch soon and I don't wanna defect to Minecraft nor pay anything. I see Minetest ios clones but i dont trust them cuz they're all the same.
EDIT 1: Is there a way to run the Android program on iOS? If you were to port it it would probably save time.
EDIT 2: If I were to switch from iOS to Android this would be one reason why.
I test mines.

Samsung Galaxy Fit
RAM 280MB

After loading files, the screen goes blue (main menu bg) coloured blank (nothing at screen) and if i touch it more than three repeatedly it close itself.

Why?
I have the same issue on Galaxy Ace Plus,if i try to touch more than 3 times it closes the game.

I'm using the ARM build with android 2.3.6.

Finally, I can run this. How:
1. Activate automatic rotation
2. Put your handphone in horizontal. (same as when you look at Minetest)
3. Open Minetest
If doesn't work,
4. Open task manager.
5. Clear RAM (make sure you have saved your work!)
6. Try again.
If the problem exist,
7. Do steps number 4-5
8. Without opening other apps (including android launcher), open Minetest

Hope that works!

Tapping three times outside the formspec on main screen to close is a feature. Outside the formspec in game (inventory for example) closes the formspec. You can close formspec with three mouse clicks outside with a PC too.

This works sometimes but the game is nearly unplayable because of FPS,but i think that's because Ace Plus has a mediocre hardware.

Works very well on "lg nexus 5".
Works on asus tf701t (k00c) but some textures in inventory are weird (trees, planks and leaves) : they've got the same icon than inventory (icon in bottom left) or are invisible.

On a Moto X...

I wish that opening a formspec menu hides chat, because chat interferes with crafting and smelting. It would be nice for sliding from the right edge of the screen to bring a simple menu with controls for fast, fly, etc. And using the back button on a formspec menu should return the player to the game screen. Oh, and both tiles and train tracks appear, to me, as infinite nodes reaching for the sky.

I found something weird :
if I add "mg_flags = dungeons" or "active_block_range = 8" in {minetest_dir}/games/minetest_game/minetest.conf, these lines are removed. I need to put these lines in minetest.conf in {minetest_dir}/.

What’s the minimum requirements for installing Minetest on Android?

I have a very old and unused Android tablet running a rooted Android 2.2 on an ARM Cortex-A8. When I try to install it (selecting the APK in a file manager and select “Package Manager”) it says “Parsing error” and won’t let me install the latest APK.

Is 2.2 just too old?

It is 2.3 -- the parsing error means that your android version is too old.

2.2 is way too old. You can probably find a custom ROM for your table running 2.3, like cyanogenmod.

Unfortunately not :) It’s a cheap-ass beginners tablet for around 100 Euros (around $124) when it was new.

The device got dropped by the developers very soon after release. The only ROM that properly runs on it is Uruk Droid (last updated April 2011) which uses 2.2.1 + necessary changes for the tablet and convenience functions provided by the Uruk Droid makers – Whatever :)

Thanks for the reply!

Edit 1: I just found a working CM version with 2.3.x :) God, is that device slooooow :D Trying to install Minetest, soon.

Edit 2: Woah it’s actually – “playable”. Well, it runs with ~1 FPS but it runs :D

That error messages appear when holding power button to open the menu for taking a screenshot.

Might be something for the minimal hardware requirement thread :-)

Seems to work well on;

Nabi 2: 4x1.3Ghz, GeForce, 1GB, 1024x600
but needs inventory_image_hack = true
and
RCA Apollo 8: 4x1.4Ghz, Mali-400, 1GB, 720x480

when logging into a mostly vanilla server, but they crash when entering our family server, I may have to trim some mods, or hopefully its just one killing them.

The nabi was a little challenging to get working for a non-techie like me. (I don't even own a cell-phone, let alone a smart phone). It requires the installation of the ES File Manager from Google Play in order to navigate to the apk, no such file browser is included.

I think the kids will be thrilled christmas day, I'm not so sure about it but lost out to the wife on this one. I wanted to give them their own pc's. I feel like I wanted to give them a granola bar, she's mainlining them sugar. We'll see.

Welcome to android! If you download the apk via Chrome or the default android browser, you can select the apk from the notification bar after it has been downloaded, or use the Downloads app (default). If this doesn't work, that means you are using a highly customized android build.

(also, I use MI file explorer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1523691)

I can't wait for the 0.4.11 Android build.

The following, in my opinion, should be helpful:

Hiding chat in every formspec menu.
Double-tapping forward key toggles fast, double-tapping jump key toggles fly, and double-tapping down/sneak key toggles noclip.

Just my thoughts...

I really wish Minetest would be available on F-Droid. It's an alternative to the Android market for open source software.
