[CSM] chat logging [chatlog]

This CSM logs chat messages to the debug.txt file. This is useful if you need to grep for certain messages. Compatible with 0.4.17 and 5.0, as long as basic CSM is enabled in the latter.

Abuse potential: nothing that I am aware of.

not an abuse but chat spamming could bloat the debug file and maybe cause lag.
maybe a tool to begin a new file if the old one gets too large might be usefull.

does sound usefull.
you might also want to study older mods for other features and solutions ...

Thanks for links to the history. I don't think there's any facility for CSMs to open files on its own, so there's no way to implement some sort of logrotate functionality. That JBR chatlog mod, and its derivatives, are not CSMs. The red-001 chatlog CSM stores the log in modstorage. As the main point of this CSM is to make it easy to grep for messages, that's not really helpful (though it does seem to facilitate looking at old log messages while in-game).
