tool that changes mob's texture from all its textures

When you spawn a mob with an egg from mobs redo it comes with a random texture

textures = {{"parrot_blue.png"},{"parrot_green.png"},{"parrot_grey.png"}},

But when you want to test out different mob textures you need to spawn more and even then you might not get the mob with the right texture.



These two tools could solve this

-a tool that can be used for right clicking on mobs to change their texture without formspec. With this tool you could test out all the mobs textures by aditionaly right clicking with it.

-a tool that can be used for right clicking on mobs to show a formspec with all the posible mob textures
buttons. When button is pressed mob changes textures to that texture.

The parrots look very nice! Hope I'll see them on some servers soon. Regarding your question: I do have a way to select a texture in my mobf_trader mod. The texture is not adjusted in any way...it's just the image shown. All you really need to do is figure out how to get all textures a mob might have, display them, and react to the player's selection. I havn't taken a close enough look at mobs_redo to tell you how easy it is.

Take a look at the sheep, they can change texture when shorn or dyed. That should explain how the texture changing is accomplished.

right click with the test_texture:stick tool, and type texture(s) to use, then the text saves in the tool.

then simply use the tool on objects to set texture.
