I have been dreaming about an IDE for Minetest. Could also be a plugin for Atom or so.
It should have Docs included, plus easy "insert code" dialogs for registering new things, such as ores.
This would especially help artists or so to create for instance new entities/mobs more easily.
In addition, there should be support for most popular APIs, such as Mob Engines.
I am suggesting this as I sometimes saw some great models, which would fit nice as MT Mobs.
When you hit the run button, MT should be started.
What are your thoughts on this ?

I'd very much like to see this. It should certainly be a plugin for an existing IDE (please please be atom).

Hmmm - I like Atom but it's not that RAM friendly, is it ?
So at first, before starting ANY development, we should collect :
Editors/IDEs that are possible
Required plugins for each of those, such as lua checkers
Until now, I have developed using in LUA at first in Gedit, then in Sublime Text, and now, in Virtual Studio Code...
However, VSCode is by MS :/

Ewwww Electron. Gross.rubenwardy wrote:(please please be atom).
Sublime Text FTW.
In all seriousness, this does sound pretty cool. I have looked into adding quick-complete (built-in minetest.bla library) stuff to Sublime, but didn't get very far. I feel like the only way to get all the functionality you want (ie. 'Save and Run' button or easy registrations) would be a new IDE. Except that is a lot more work than writing a few add-ons for the major IDEs. I'll have to look into this.
