Why texture modifyers have only opened square bracket?

by Drachenbauer32 » Sun Oct 20, 2019 17:34

While working with the lua-codes of some mods, i spottet something weird in the format of image modifyers for textures like this ("dye" in this sample get´s it´s value from a table of content):
Code: Select all
"color_white.png^[multiply:" .. dye

They include an opened square bracket (between the texture-name and the modifyer-command), but not a closed one.

Why this format doesn´t require a closed square bracket for the opened one?

Think of it as an unique character that is unlikely to be used in file names. '$' would be an option too, but whoever implemented the first modifiers thought that an opening bracket would look better.
Look, I programmed a bug for you. >> Mod Search Engine << - Mods by Krock - DuckDuckGo mod search bang: !mtmod <keyword here>
