HI, sorry for my english...

What I planned to modding (but, so, moooore simple) ported from minecraft. [by prio order]
1/ AE2
2/ RC (locomotive, rail routing via ticket, cartchest, un/loading station, etc)
3/ GregTech 5u like [like technic but more brainfucked]

I'm very new in minetest/modded/modding...
but I'm come from minecraft modding team (who's write customNPC)
I had recently discovert unlimitless of minetest, easy and open modding etc...
where minecraft totally suck...

anybody are welcome to help.

for now, I'm coding a "extractor pipe" (depends pipeworks)

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately I'm not able to create mods on myself, but I think it'd bei nice if there were horses in minetest which you can ride. I'd love a train in minetest as well, I'm not sure if such a mod already exists.

By the way, a big thank you to all modders for all the great stuff!

A mod to be able to recycle metal items would be useful, by putting the object in a furnace and you get the ingots back (anything other than metal gets burned off when you do this).

Now if the item has some damage on it, you may not get all the metal back when melting it down.

(This would also be useful when you have mods that add a lot of random loot to the world, since you can turn a surplus of items into much needed resources)

There should be a mod that acts like the chatplus mod, but is a little different. With chatplus, in order to have chat filtered on servers, the mod must be on the host's computer. This mod should modify the client so received chat is filtered. So those who like the servers that allow swearing, but don't like the swearing, can play without the bad stuff.

Minetest doesn't have Lua client side mods, you need to make a MC-style mod core change/patch.

I agree it should be client side, along with ignore filters. Hell and ass shouldn't be banned, anyway. Swearing filters are quite inaccurate.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to mod (there is a reason I posted on this topic). I am also not very familiar with Minecraft. Hopefully someone knows this kind of stuff and is up to the challenge. I have only made one mod and it's very...VERY....simple.

The problem with wordfilters, as rubenwardy said, is that it's trivial to circumvent, and hard to implement correctly without it giving lots of false positives.

If you really want it, learn modding and try to tackle the problem, but most of us don't find it worth the effort to implement.

I wish somebody could make a mod for Angry Birds Transformers. So basically, add player-shaped characters, when you kill an Autobird, you either get Birdium, Autocog, Anger Chip
when you kill a Deceptihog, they drop Deceptigear, Pig Iron, and Badness Processor and Rarely Drop Super Rareium, but they shoot at you if attacked, but will be an ally if you don't attack them. Then, if you right click an Autobird with a Autobird material, then he gets a stronger attack, same if done with the Deceptihogs, but if you right-click them with Super Rareium, they gain 200 health and do 1000 damage to anything. Oh and there's these structures made out of wood, glass stone, and cobblestone, and they have pigs in them which the Deceptihogs shoot at, the pigs come in variety, there is the one which spawns Highto-Pigs, which fly and shoot, the normal shooter pigs cause a half a heart of damage, 3-Force pigs take away 3 hearts, and Sharkitohogs live in water and have a lot of health but hurt only half a heart. There should be 17 Autobirds and 15 Deceptihogs. Plz do this, Plz. I'll do all the sprites.

Idea: a mod that adds blocks and objects that behave in unexpected ways,
for example a trash can that will melt away after 3 uses
and a computer or tablet -like thing that will drain half a heart(that's 1hp, right?) every few seconds, but will allow you to not fall(maybe even fly) and be invulnerable as long as you are using it, when you stop you will have a tiny bit lower jump and be a tiny bit slower every time (those effects will stack), to get back to normal stats you need to run, jump and fall for 20 times each(run 20 blocks, increase your height coord 20 times, decerase your height coord 20 times)
and speed boots (or ring or anything) that will make you move faster than the map can load
and something (a ball & chain or something similar maybe) that will make you or the person used on move and jump and fall super slow (great for griefers or other criminals)
maybe some doors that you can open and close but not go trough (will make people mad, especially if it looks just like a real door you can go trough)

....I just noticed that I have only punishing ideas....I guess that says something about me....

Could someone please do a mod to view your skin from every angle?
shouldn't be too hard to do, just another character mesh that has arms and legs in a position that allows to see the inner side too, third person view doesn't allow me to view my sides...
a plus would be to be able to change the skin after placing
another plus would be ability to get separate body parts that are placeable

also, if you read this post literally then it sounds weird...

That might be impossible. You can make a mod to change the eye offset for 3rd person view, or maybe add an entity(maybe a mob) in 1st person that mimics the players movements.

why mimic? why not a statue with the skin that the player is currently wearing and in such position that you can see the inner side(by inner I mean the side thats closer to the "center" axis of player model) of legs and arms, like a running pose or laying pose (but in vertical position)?

In that case, you could probably just use set_eye_offset

Just register an entity with the player model and and skin. Make it so the entity does not move or rotate.
Many of my mods are now a part of Minetest-mods. A place where you know they are maintained!

thing I do not understand is how to set the rotation of body parts and how to get the skin of the player who placed it, otherwise I would have done it already

set_bones_position is what you need to use for rotation of body parts.

The players table will have the skin texture in it.

Anyone interested in helping try to create a feature which, once user selects a TP, if said TP has different sizes available, 16px-folder, 32px-folder, 64-folder, etc... a screen pops up to make the selection.
Does anyone think this would be a nice /useful feature?
There is another aspect to this feature I thought of last night but now I forgot, and it seemed pretty flippin cewl to me at the time... (I'll be back...) :P

  • maybe give coordinates, where the player gets teleported to without movement abilities, then teleport back and allow movement again
  • maybe use fuel or technic power

hello everyone. how can i replicate the on screen effect of flashing red when player is hurt? ex. I'd like to copy this effect for other situations... I've made a mod that incorporates player exhaustion states.. and would like the screen to flash different color like white when player is exhausted. would this be done via huds? if there is existing mod as an example, I'd be happy to learn from that.

also, i have healing potions and would like to have pretty particle effects shower over player upon consumption... because, you know... all potions have to do that! can someone direct me to api or mod example. thanks!
