i decided to add this to my weekly homework to get at least some progress, but the plan didn't work :P
although the long break (not even playing minetest) got me motivated again.
so by next week i should have some updates to post =(^.^)=

merry after christmas :P

instead of adding new trees, i completely re-worked the biome system.
each biome now has it's very own tree (except the glacier)
and i also calculated the heat and humidity coordinates so that all biomes have the same size on the biome map.
on the actual game map, the corner biomes are still more rare, but not as much as they were before ;)

the biome map and changelog in the 1st post are updated =(^.^)=

edit: i also fixed the bug that generated wrong beaches, not matching the biomes

added jungle trees with cocoa fruits
and i'm having trouble with the beaches again :(
all biome parameters are correct, but the mapgen just ignores half of the beach biomes and places something else.
but the ocean is the correct one again...

guess i will have to re-design the biome settings again.

another problem appeared:
the animated magma blog crashes the game on the loading screen, with no errors in the log.
i removed the magma block, but i don't want to continue until i get it back :P

tweaked biome settings are planned, but not coded yet.
need to fix the magma first...

after a long period of frustration, i resumed working on this.
the magma block problem has been fixed and mg v6 runs smoothly.
the re-writing of the biome system is in the works.
just now i implemented the new mercury (glacier) biome. it's the same as the default mtg glacier, except that the icesheets (frozen ocean) are not covered in snow.
now you can clearly see the difference between glacier land and glacier ocean, and it looks very nice too ;)

my texture resource has "packed ice".
i might use it to generate decorative ice spikes, since mercury is the only biome without vegetation.

and packed ice spreads when it gets in contact with flowing water :3

the biome generator has been finished once again.
this time everything works as intended. yay~
i sto... "borrowed" the nice beaches from the default mapgen.
same for some parameters like filler_depth and riverbed_depth, since they work well.
(but i made some small changes in some biomes)

even if grass and/or stones are shared, each biome is slightly different from the others ;)
