I wouldn't mind 3d mobs IF they are resource friendly.

ok: gambit, can you reupload your mobs
- rigged
- with a proper license ( https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ ) could fit your needs

Well, about the format, blender can import nearly everything so just choose a format you like which contains animations. You can allso use .lwo, blender can import that http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Exten ... ave_Object
Gr8 b8, m8. I rel8, str8 appreci8, and congratul8. I r8 this b8 an 8/8. Plz no h8, I'm str8 ir8. Cr8 more, can't w8. We should convers8, I won't ber8, my number is 8888888, ask for N8. No calls l8 or out of st8. If on a d8, ask K8 to loc8. Even with a full pl8, I always have time to communic8 so don't hesit8.

CC BY-NC-SA isn't a proper license, it's not free, why not use CC BY or CC BY-SA?

I have made a pig. Texture is still missing but the blender model is made
and also the animation is added.
The model is WTFPL.
It would be nice if anybody could make a texture for it.
Here is the model:

I modeled, textured, rigged, and animated the DM:

Image

Frame 1-30 is idle, 31-60 is walk, and 61-90 is attack. All animations loop seamlessly. The specular should be toned down but I didn't notice until after rendering.

Download: http://www.pasteall.org/blend/18585

The design is inspired by Gambit's model. I hereby release it under CC0, so mobf can use it regardless of which license it uses.

I wonder if I should revive this 3D stuff in the near future. But I'm stumped on what to make.

I'll think about it. Cause I too sorta hate making models myself, but it's an art so I tend to lean on it anyways. As simple as block-like characters are, it just feels like a chore, 3D modeling.

And the reason why I said I'll think about it is because I just downloaded the animal mob so I could create textures for my MineToon texture pack, but the UV images the mob comes with has me lost. So I'm not so complacent with my own efforts.

These look so cool! It would be nice to have something that would give you a challenge in survival. Hopefully you could make them less rare too.

I'm trying to learn blender at the moment. So if I'm lucky, I could probably get this 3D mobs of mine into a reality.

I know. I have blender, and it is anything but straightforward. I still have been too lazy to even try doing anything in blender. Good luck though! :D

Blender has excellent online documentation and tutorials. Do a few of the basic ones and I'm sure you'll have enough to do this kind of stuff. I recall the "Noob to Pro" ones being really good.

I don't see the difference between the two screenshots. Anyway, it's a matter of preference. I don't think I could like any alternative more than Blender in my own case.

And nice... fun to see someone else playing with the player model :) Note that for official sources, I recommend all models are stored as a blend file, since that's the most common editor and most stable way.
