It just takes a few minuts to make textures in gimp, and its easy.

is it too much/litle needels, light/dark?

(It doesn't matter who are using the textures, it's for anyone that want them)

It is easy to make a texture, but it is difficult to make textures that are looking good

PR using npx's textures https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/pull/1587
npx is CC BY-SA 3.0 ok? this is the usual license we use for textures.

Why don't we mix between regular and this new soil? IMO, it looks better.

PR merged.

We're looking for textures for coniferous forest ground, dead needles. burli's is close but needs more contrast and should not create lines on the landscape.

I think this looks nice, although not sure I see "pine needles" in it?
Looks more like a nice version of mycelium

Very difficult to produce a pine needle ground cover in 16px. maybe a mixture of these colors and a thin spread of dry-grass-ish colors/pixels?

Maybe it's time to make 32px textures default in MT?

npx' texture looks very fine. Especially with the mushroom decoration.

I have been working with npx's texture, see https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/issues/1570#issuecomment-286542916 onwards. I had to remove the line effect, and tried a greyer version and a single-hue colourised version.
