Baobab

by Sergey » Post

I WANT IT.
To hollow out big house right inside the tree!
Or to chop huge heap of wood.

+1 Savannas are a little boring, this could make them better.

Baobab wood can't be used for building, it is to weak and it is rotting to fast. But they have edible fruits, you can make strings out of the bork and lots of other stuff. I think I will make a baobab

Weak wood? Rotting? So what? How weakness or rotting is implemented in game? It fell down like sand or gravel? Destroys in water? Are there rains? Nothing like this.

If you dig a trunk, you won't get a trunk? It won't rott as long as the tree lives, but if you cut him down the wood can't be used to build any structure (in real life)

I know that realism is nothing common in a sandbox game, but a little bit won't hurt. This tree can be more than just a gigant wood source

I am not talking about realism. I am talking about the game.
I already complained that this game is so far from reality, but developer said me:

That's true. But a gigant tree like the one from your image would have an impact to the game. You could harvest a huge amount of wood without any effort. And on thing I always complain is that Minetest is to easy

Btw: I made a small version of a baobab. A big one will follow

I want to add edible fruits to the baobab. Leaves and seeds are also edible. You can get water out of the tree and you can make strings out of the bark

you can try Ethereal, it has giant redwood trees =(^.^)=
(after the latest update, their biomes are now covered with dry grass, so it looks like savanna too)
