Not to beat a dead horse but....
I've managed to create something similar to this using an itemframe. This is not the best solution on my 10+ year old underpowered laptops. But, it's still such an awesome effect, that I am willing to suffer the fps. Mod may be coming soon, as a more accessible demo of this effect.
Now that breaking changes can be done, can this be added as an option? C++ is so much faster and more efficient at crunching this data. My mod uses, of course, the wield drawtype, but wouldn't even a non-shader based method still be faster?
Just asking? Pretty please, with sugary graphics on top?
