Looking in the changelog:
https://dev.minetest.net/Changelog
I cannot find the mapblocks version related to minetest version list.
If I understand well minetest 5.6.1 write mapblock version 29 while 5.3.0 use version 28, but where is the transition?

Re: mapblocks format and minetest version
yes. THANKYOU. So till 5.4.0 I can save a world and use it with native Debian 11 Minetest that is 5.3.0.
While using next Minetest AppImages 5.5 and 5.6 just entering a world, it is converted to the new format and then is no more compatible with 5.3.0, right?

Re: mapblocks format and minetest version
Correct, so if you ever open a world on a version of 5.5.x or higher, the world has undergone a one-way conversion. Keep a backup if it's important to you to be able to use an old version, e.g. if there is a mod compatibility problem.

Re: mapblocks format and minetest version
should be warned in release notes for 5.5 version so users are aware of the one way conversion
Re: mapblocks format and minetest version
IIRC I actually brought that up, but it was dismissed.
