I'm quickly getting disorientated, especially at night when there's less light. How about including a compass or just an arrow that always points North? Or should I be looking at the sky more frequently to work out if the sun is rising or setting, and working it out from that?

My compass-mod isn't pointing north, because I think that's useless. You know where the sun/moon rises and where it sets. So it's obvious where north is.
The compass points to your beds position (PilzAdams bed-mod) alternatively to the sethome-position alternatively to the static-spawnpoint alternatively to 0/0.
