Because of the current way lighting operates. Hardware based lighting is on the long term todo list, and while doing this the limit may be removed.

Hi,

I'm a recent fan of MineTest (I switched over when Minecraft sold out to Microsoft), so I don't have a lot of experience with MT yet but I like what I see. In some ways it's better than Minecraft, which is quite an achievement considering the millions of dollars Mojang has.

Since this is a wishlist:
1. Is it possible to put half slabs on the top half of the block? Some of my MC builds use those and I want to rebuild my world in MineTest. It could be that it is currently possible, but I haven't found out how yet.

2. Stairs: no inverted (upside down) stairs? Also cornerstairs would be a very welcome addition as I use these extensively in my builds

Use the screwdriver. You can rotate things. Solves both requests.

I always thought you cant have two objects in the space of one block except with mobs.

You need a support block and place the slab/stair on it’s lower face – or use the screwdriver to rotate it.

Use moreblocks. That comes with a bunch of shapes, including cornerstones. You can get these shapes by crafting a circular saw, placing it somewhere and dropping the material you want to have cut into it.

If you want to place several blocks which ought to have the same texture and orientation (relevant i.e. for roofs), my replacer mod might help you a lot.

Other than that, there is one version of stairs where a slab placed on a slab produces a full block again, and one where that doesn't happen. Just try out which one is which. With moreblocks and my replacer mod, you ought to be on the safe side after some experimenting. You'll also want a screwdriver in order to turn the nodes into the direction you want.

Inverted stairs can be placed by using moreblocks and placing the stair from below onto the bottom of another node.

When walking forward (or diagonally) and jumping, it doesn't really feel smooth - if that was adjusted a bit that'd be cool. I'm sure this has been addressed before though.

Uh... maybe some UI improvements? Can't really think of anything right now.

Having the creative menu have tabs sorting objects by mod and make menus scroll instead of have pages. Both of those things should make it MUCH faster.

I dont think so because if you have Tons of mods with very little items in it it would get a big hassle to scroll through the Tons of Tabs.
But scrolling the Items instead of displaying them pagewise would be a good Idea.
And Tabs for additional Menus like worldedit, skins, specialties or Armor.

Hassle? Yes. Lag? No. It's better to have no lag and hassle then lag AND hassle. Besides, just using menus is already a hassle. That's why I use /giveme.

That has been made: [Mod] Crafting [2.0.1] [crafting]

This mod adds tabs to creative. In my case was not that fast, but it may be to you.

I think it would be a good Idea to have either a virtual keyboard in the game or the possility to configure one.
The Setting should be disable at default for Normal Keyboard / Mouse Players and could be enabled for Gamepad Players such as me.
The internal would be the best I think because it could be embeded wit the Textfield.
Thanks,
JPR

How about smarter mob support. I'd like to see some AI in the game itself for modders to work with.

As far as this goes, the attitude of the developers seems to be the following:
"Eternally ask and you shall be eternally denied."
I am afraid that this is very unlikely to happen.

Why always so pessimist? I usually ignore this, but know your giving a bad image of this place to this new member.
We have like a lot of threads that talk about this, is a known issue that is going to be addressed eventually. Is easy just to go and criticize...

This is not the first time I have seen this support asked for. Sadly, this support was rejected before.

Benedict424, your best option is to try the mods linked to below:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=629-animals_modpack
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9656-mobs
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9917-mobs_redo
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9240-minetest_mods_creatures
I welcome the idea of mob support in Minetest, to be honest.

Here are my favorite, mandatorily-installed-on-both-pcs mob mods:
For Crappy PCs(Lightweight):
For nasty foes:
BlockMen's "Creatures" mod
For Nice friends:
NPCF (aka NPC Framework)
For nice PCs:
For nasty foes:
Animals Modpack
For nice firends:
Peaceful_npc

Hope this is helpful. I personally like Animals Modpack's vombies but I feel that the textures aren't very well done and also I only want vombies and traders, not ducks, sharks, gulls, wolves, ect. I do prefer Peaceful_npc but it really drags your PC down unless you have 1+ GB RAM.

Found two discussion threads about this feature:

TL;DR version: It's not possible to make colored light. Hardware lightening is required in first place.
