What is SAMZ?

It is a game to introduce children to the Minetest Universe.

Objectives

- Game made from scratch. No MTG junk.
- Fast paced. NO delays or FPS drops.
- New 16x16 cartoon style textures.
- Colorful.
- Simple, above all.
- Cute characters, new models from scratch.
- New mobs (not Petz) simpler and friendlier.
- 2x2 crafting system: Eliminating useless objects avoids arrays of combinations that are difficult to remember.
- Not oversized: One of the things I hate most about Minetest/MInecraft is that for example the pickaxe has millions of versions: wooden, iron, rainbow.... What's the point? If in the end they do the same thing. So digging pickaxe only made of iron. The same with wood, only one type of wood.
- Online wiki.
- Simple, clear and clean interface. No hundreds of options for nothing, just for dizziness.
- New farm system more simple and beautiful.
- Armor: Maybe, but only helmet and breastplate, this is not an RPG. Iron only and with durability. Better hats or nice plumes.
- No biomes: Why the desert biome?! Everybody hates it and nobody will live there. Snow yes, but not an icy or tundra biome which is horrible. Down with the biome concept, welcome the seasons of the year.

Interesting idea I think. But I think it has been done before, but all of the others were MTG based.

There is allready tutorial? Why a new? I find samz would be to play differently from the others(except Juanchi Game). It sound more like a new game idea instead a instruction for young mans.

May I suggest, instead of armor, use attachments like
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26203
except, simpler

that can be used for fun things like hats, etc

While you wont have actual biomes, you may be able to use the biome system to make small variations of the few biomes you do have. Such as: Grassland, grassland with trees, forest, thick forest, Super thick forest, forest with ferns, etc. IRL ferns grow in parts of the forest but not in others..., and trees are thicker and older in some areas and younger and sparser in others due to forest fires and other causes

It is intended to make a pre-release-alpha in February.

Also a simple server. Raspeberry 4, 24/7, and only 3 players max. A very limited and exclusive version.

Good perfume goes in small jar, hahaha.

btw, a raspberry pi 4 can handle significantly more than 3 players, even with significant modding, I'm pretty sure. I have hosted a server with lots of mods on a pi4

I don't know, but it allows to doubt it. Minetest is not very optimized, I mean on Linux yes, on Windowws not so much. In Minecraft they advertise by default servers of 500-800-1000 players. In Minetets that would be impossible, they say that more than 50 is not possible. Not even with a NASA computer, they call them bottlenecks.

I will try it anyway.

The "rating" is made-up anyways. It's a cute idea but it does not relate to any actual rating like PEGI or the ESRB. It does not base on any standardized tests or criteria, is not legally backed, and has no experts board that defines the rating system. You can ignore it without any consequences.

Wrong, it is based on PEGI, with the peculiarities of Minetets.

Of course it is not mandatory to use it, but you will have to abide by the consequences, parents will not know if your game is suitable for their children. The first thing they do is look at a rating, PEGI, etc, SAM being the ideal for Minetest.

SAM RATING ensures the happiness and integrity of children.

Moreover, if no system is adopted, the games are rated +18 BY DEFAULT.

The rules are standardized in SAM. And very clear. There is no doubt. Please read the first post.

Of course you can use PEGI or SAM at any time.

But, without rating, it defaults to +18.

This is not trivial, it is done to protect children.

There are no consequences. Just because you say so doesn't make it valid in ANY jurisdiction. It's a hobbyist project run and defined and used by only you. It's a cute little idea from you to tell people what's the audience of your mods and games, but that's it.

For your information, there is no mods (or so i think) which are dangerous to children in the style of sexual content or drug abuse.
However some of your mods should have the rating of 16 atleast.
You don't understand anything. This is a thread about The Samz. I mean, I don't understand that you come with that if some of my mods are for over 16. Which is not true, but well, it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

NEW pre-alpha 2

- Bedz: Advanced sleeping system. You can set the hours to get rested and hungry too!
- Farmz: Basic farming and integrated basic hunger engine. Very simple: food feeds you and saciate.
- Chestnut Tree.
- Basic Toolz definition: Why wood tools??!! Why hundred of silly variations of tools! Keep simple as Samz does!
- Cool Sun and Moon textures.
- Small addons and improvements.

Well the game will be launched worldwide in a few days.

In alpha state, this means:
-That it will open many groundbreaking changes in the future.
It does not mean:
- That it will crash. It is rock solid = 0 server crashes.

I still have to polish one new thing I added and made the flyers for the promo.

Releasing the game, not the server. Because "The Samz" is already running for 2 months almost. You can visit it already!
