Version 0.15.0 released!
Version 0.15.0 released!
This adds a couple of new stones to the game for more creative building options. First of all, basalt was added which I wanted to add for a long time. Unlike essexite, basalt is actually black and doesn't have the green spots. So this will be a nice addition for creative buildings.
Then there are 7 new colorful stones each which an unique texture and highly saturated color. The high saturation is intentional and is a stark contrast to the otherwise grayish volcanic environment. This is intentional because the point of the game is to transform the world, after all. And it might be an interesting addition for creative building.

How would I slim down the mod files to simply have the hellish landscape in world generation

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.2]
I did not test this, but I think you would need at least these mods: hades_core, hades_glowcrystals, hades_mapgen and hades_mapgen_lakes. (The first two mods are for the nodes, the latter two are mapgen-only).

Hi Wuzzy. I like the idea of this game.
Was wondering if things like tubes, auto crafter, node breaker, teleporter device, etc. are currently non-functional?

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.3]
Yes, most of these things are somewhat broken, this is a known bug. The game I'm envisioning will probably quite different anyway and I have been planning to get rid of all the pipeworks stuff. I am currently more active in Repixture btw.
The teleporter device actually works as intended tho, it is just a item for crafting and has no additional use.

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.3]
OK, cool. As a building game it's still playable without all that stuff. :)
Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.3]
Hi Wuzzy, I'm a huge fan of Hades Revisited as it fits the whole scifi/teraforming thing for me, and being like the sole creator of a new world.
I've played hours on end but one thing only sticks out, and that's the endless need for grass seeds to sow grass. I really want to sow grass in allotted areas and allow it to spread naturally. I hope this mechanic could be brought back in like the minetest game. Even if it's slower!

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.3]
Thanks! Actually, I have a lot of ambitious ideas for this game. I have written them down a couple of years ago but currently this game development is on hold due to Repixture. Currently I will only touch this game if there's serious bug or something like that (please do report bugs you find). But Hades Revisited is still on my agenda.
For example, the spread of grass is defintely one aspect I wanted to rework. Like the whole plant/growth system is planned to get a full makeover, like with a full tech-tree of some sorts. As for grass, the idea is that grass initially does not spread naturally but you will eventually be able to build machines creating an atmosphere that allows grass (and maybe other plants?) to spread on their own.
Anyway, do you like to share some screenshots of your world(s)? I'm curious. :D

Hello Wuzzy!
After a while I’m playing Hades again.
Nice to see this game evolving. Thank you.
Some feedback:
After a while I’m playing Hades again.
Nice to see this game evolving. Thank you.
Some feedback:
- Can’t find any recipe for:
- Stone Brick
- Burned Stone Brick
- Burned Stone Block
- An option to have the tree trunks not round would be fine. Square trunks are better for building.
- Dirt with Grass spread intermediate fix:
Even if you plan something different, this would make the the gameplay more convenient until you come up with a final solution.Code: Select all
…/hades_revisited/mods/hades_core/functions.lua: -- Dirt-with-Grass ABMs … nodenames = {"group:dirt_with_grass", "group:dirt"},
- Vines are far to much, they ruin the shape of the trees – 1/10 would be enough.
- Olive Oil Bottles (simple bottles too) look nicer when only half sized, e.g. to put on a table.
- Some blocks are hard to see in the inventories (Essexite, Basalt, Obsidian, Coalblock), maybe the background colour could be a little bit lighter.
I am okay with using the screenshots in all my posts for the website of Minetest (http://minetest.net).

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.3]
Thank you for the feedback. I've added the missing recipes problem to the bugtracker because this is a bug.
I'm not sure what to do with "round" tree trunks myself.
The vines growth is indeed debatable but this is part of the complete plant redesign anyway.
Good suggestion about bottle size.
Also good complaint about inventory darkness, you're right, essexite is indeed hard to see.

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.3]
Just discovered a bug:
- put a coal lump on an itemframe
- rightclick this
- the coal lump comes off
- pick it up
- now you have 9 coal lumps!

As you may have noticed, development for this game is still (mostly) on hold but there is a good chance for a small release if important bugs have been found.

Carpet Workstation does not work with "hades_cloth:…"
gluncarp/machines.lua
line 136
has to be:
gluncarp/machines.lua
line 136
Code: Select all
if clothname == "cloth:"..color then

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.4]
Hi Wuzzy,
I've been wondering for a while why Hades Revisited includes parts of pipeworks and mesecons, but stops short of giving us the full versions of those mods. You would have had to actively select only those parts of the mods instead of the full ones, and I'm wondering what the rationale was.
I know the game is in flux as to its future and you may get rid of those entirely and so on, but don't you think it would be a better game if we had the pneumatic tubes and mesecons in the interim?
My best guess is that you didn't want to re-use too much of those mods, to be more original. But in doing so there's less content in the game. I guess the secondary question is: how much focus is in your future ideas for HR that involves automation components like pneumatic tubes and digital logic? Or would the more ideal HR revolve more around easy-to-use terraforming (in the original sense of the word) mechanisms?

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.4]
To be honest I haven't really thought of what to do about pipeworks and mesecons. But my current main issue with those is they're too buggy and reworking that will be a lot of work. Anyway, the mod versions are really, really old so this is why they feel "incomplete".
I will think about all of that more when I restart serious development. But you can expect major changes, replacement or removal of pipeworks and mesecons.

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.4]
I checked the tiles and to me, all tiles can be obtained. In the game, each wood combination actually exists twice, one of them is just rotated. The rotated version cannot be crafted but it can be gotten by using the screwdriver. With the screwdriver, you can create some cool patterns. :-)
Still, it might be confusing to have non-craftable tile combinations in the crafting guide so I should probably hide them.

Re: [Game] Hades Revisited [0.15.4]
OK, I didn’t check this.
The question is, if all these tiles are necessary – some look rather similar.
