Thank you for releasing such great textures as always. Even if you decided to cancel Voxus for Minetest, offering such quality media still helps and will aid people in creating good games of their own, and maybe something nice will happen with them :)

Kinda be cool to have an to Tom Nooks store and buy stuff so on. might can be done not sure yet. but we will find out later on.

But it lovely all the textures.

Will it still be open source in Unity?

Even if the game logic is free/libre, the game would still be proprietary since it depends on the proprietary Unity engine.

Kenney wrote:Sad news today for those excited to see Voxus in Minetest.

I've decided to switch engines and continue developing Voxus using Unity and Voxelmetric. There are a few reasons why I've decided to switch;

First and foremost; I'd like to have total creative freedom on how the game looks and acts. Currently, Minetest offers very little in this regard. Without diving into the source files, there's no way to properly change the skybox, add visual effects or change the way the game behaves. I'm sure these features get added to Minetest in the future, but as it stands right now it's just not usable for this project.

Second is the fact that Unity supports multiple platforms out of the box. With very little work the project can be exported to Android, iOS and game consoles like Wii U. Especially Wii U is important, my company has recently gained permission to purchase a development kit and I'd love to check that out.

The performance of Minetest is often lacking and I think that in combination with a modern framework and engine a lot of issues can be solved in regards to this.

I hope you guys understand my decision to do this and continue supporting this project, I won't be updating this thread with progress anymore because well, it's not Minetest anymore.

Here's a screenshot of Voxus running on the new engine.

You can follow me on Twitter to keep up-to-date with progress.
can you please release the source code or at least a broken test build,
also so sad you stopped the development on this project it looked so good :(

Looks like Voxus is inactive, and it's the most interesting of his projects.

I guess it's time to move this thread to Old Subgames, then.

No..., we can kidnap him, lock him in a dark cellar somewhere and force him to finish the work... At least it sounds like a good idea in my head

I remember you once promised to release the textures and other media files you created in the process. What happened to that?

There's this, not sure if it's the same: http://kenney.nl/assets/voxel-pack

Not the same but it's similar enough (and more widely usable, instead of textures specific to this project), you're 100% allowed to use those in whatever project you want. I did cancel both this project and the Unity version, our studio received funding to create an adventure game that I've been wanting to make for years now - so almost all focus is on that.

Well, in all honesty, I do support the fact that Kenney might want to port some of his games to Nintendo's hardware, as that company has reclaimed the throne of the video game industry, and rightfully so.

Yes, it is a shame that this subgame was cancelled, but it was for the right reasons. You see, even Inside The Box shows the latent issues within the engine that Minetest uses.

It's been 11 years since Nintendo has released a Metroid game that's actually good, I disagree.
