Minetest_MarSurvival

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury. Named after the Roman god of war, it is often referred to as the "Red Planet"[13][14] because the iron oxide prevalent on its surface gives it a reddish appearance.[15] Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth.

so Cross-interstellar enterprises takes you to mars on their purpose, they give you a little help but a robot in base. but you can not get much help. You can choose mining ore to make money or try becoming an adventurer to transform the environment. i guess they never warn you that the weather is "a little bad".

About Mars Survival you should know

Spacesuite:
all new players will get one, wear in slot 1 to use it, you will lost 8hp every 2 secund in vaccum if you not using it,
or lightly damage inside other blocks.
the suite is time limited 30-60 min (depends on lags), it using / refills from air bottles when it ends automatically, or you can craft the suit with bottles to refill.

Air generator:
click to block to make "unstabile air" after a while this will be breathable air.
Not the breathable air is very sensitive, it will disaper if only 1 vaccum come near it.
your spacesuit will load automacly in this air.
The generator can be used 5 times.

The clay is usefull to craft a lot of things, you can find it in stone (breakable by hand)
same for the oxid blocks.

How to start,maybe userful:

your are the lonely pioneer on MARS, with few items to use.
new player will spawn in front of the door ,next to PLAYER's HALL.recommand players to sethome here at first time.

Water could be the beginning for all creature,maybe it will be a great starting.

you could look up the ice around mountain. it will not be a eazy task.cooked by furnace(with fuel like coal_lump),you will get water.
put water near mars stone,mars stone will turn to mossycobble.it's the beginning of plant.

mossycobble could be used to craft some thing like mars tree .
mars tree could make wood barrel,with mossycobble the unfermented compost could be made.
put he unfermented compost into wood barrel,you get the dirt.

if you could successfully make dirt,you could make many kind of food.
than you could try to make garden for fun,maybe underground is the best place,
or start to think about how to user other advenced tools/material to change the mars.

in_game craft_guide could be helpful for player.

-- you are on mars,it's hard to survival,for example,maybe the weather is not...so good,and may hurt you..(as title pic).in that situation,you should find some place to hide or back to player's hall.
-- take care of your spacesuit & other,take off spacesuit outside will make you be hurt.

yes,you are right. maybe i do something wrong,but it's not simply like"copy space mod folder to this game's mods folder". i have to say that i'm newbie for lua,just like the idea to make marssurvive mod into a subgame(and let it running a server),and try to make it works.so i spend much time to test & test.

my first step is that make & tweak this (wip)subgame, as my thought that while players join this game will take much time trying to survive(environment & weather will try to stop all players),than i have time to do the work to merge space mod...^^!

any suggestion is welcome,tks.

u should improve the crafts especial of technic. They don't work, especially because they need the rubber tree on mars .:)

oh,tks for your feedback,now digging jungleleaves will have chance to get rubber-tree-sapling.

tks for juli & other players's many feedbacks.

this game has special environment,so players&me have many issues to discuss & tweak about extra mods.many extra mods could not work correctly with marssurvivl mod.for example,on mars will not have rain & forest,but we still try to make mars suitable for human beings,so mymonth&farming mod has to be tweak,and so on.

few days before tm3 told me the idea about "MANUAL of this game",he found many new players have confused about how to start&survival(even we have many notes in player's hall).here is the first demo version of MANUAL by tm3,well done!!!

ha,my original idea is that this is a space harror game(like move ALINE),for example when player die,their body will got infection(low chance) by virus,and...vampire appear waitting for player when he return. or players could try to breed earth's creature from alien's drop item,but has chance evil mob's appear.

but it seems not good for now,because this is a game about a "normal" astronauts try to survive on mars, astronauts have to survive by his knowledges,and the equipment in this game is only space suit.the only way to get powerful gun is trying to kill aliens if he is lucky.

but we only keep some "cute mob" when you mine very very deeper.

world's database(about 1GB now) transfer from sqlite to leveldb is complete for better performance,it seems not bad,the time of block-modify is more faster than before.

please configure the areas mod. U can't give all players the areas priv. Pleas remove it from th players, else they
can remove also other players areas.

Here is a configuration so that also other players can make large areas, without areas privilege:

I have now choosen high values, so that the players can protect 1000x1000x1000 areas.
But they can't remove other peoples areas.
the line: setting("boolean", "self_protection", true)
is most important.

I installed the game into the game folder, but it seems not to work. Failed to load and run script. Did i have to do something else then install it to the game folder?

I also tried installing the game as is from the download file on Github. It seems there is a file in the irc mod missing...

i got the latest commit (20-11-2016) on github to work if i delete the .minetest/games/marsu_game/mods/irc and .minetest/games/marsu_game/mods/irc_commands folders
(with help from juli, thanks)
