Edit: started a new world, normal game mode
the good
- the sky turned orange and there was a light sandstorm, very nice
the bad
- leaves don't have leaf decay?
- wooden shield texture does not match the armor
- leaves are indestructable except with a sword
i starved to death.
desert in all directions and nothing to eat, spiders only drop dirt.
after crossing the ocean i came into an endless glacier, no animals here either.
what can i do?
maybe i will stea... uh... "borrow" some things from it ;)

In the desert, you can eat the fruit that grow on cacti (you can farm them by growing cactus).
The glaciers and deserts will have more animals to eat once more are added.

Random complaints
Uncraftable items:
The game is lacking a crafting guide (very important!).
Glass bottle can't be stacked although you craft 10 of then with the crafting recipe.
Sheep mesh error messages in chat, they probably appear after a sheep gets re-activated:
Workbenches, furnaces and chests in generated houses are broken.
I wish the backpack would actually be useful rather than just decoration.
The brewing stand seems useless. So does the mortar.
Otherwise, Farlands seems fine so far. I haven't found many biomes yet. I had a very unlucky first spawn right in the middle of a glacier / pine forest biome without any food or mobs, so I starved to death 2 times before I even managed to find a grasslands biome and survive. xD
Farlands looks like Minecraft and Minetest Game had a baby. The first impression is good.

I fixed the crafting recipes, and the sheep problem.
I'm not sure I want to fix the glass bottle problem, I think I have an idea of what I will do about that.
The other stuff will be fixed :)
Also there are two kinds of crafting guides. You can get one by putting a blank book into the crafting grid.

And meat cubes can be cooked by right-clicking fire(the basic kind) with them.

So you first need to know a crafting recipe AND papyrus (which is not common) to obtain a crafting guide. This is bad.
