What can those scripts do ?
Move the player, find stuff, dig, build, manage inventory&armor,
talk&listen to chat, modify HUD, set skin ? Fight mobs ?
Record & replay actions ?

This client side mod is nice but some of them needs to know how to use lua. The same to create a mod you need .lua files too.

The actions that aren't possible are move, dig, build, manage inventory & armor, modify HUD, set skin, replay actions if there aren't mods on the server to enable it. But the player can change their chat, listen to chat, record basic actions and run away from a fight with /home or /spawn trick.

Minetest CSM is a bit limited, but when it comes to chatting, it's possible to customize it. The player can change the color of their chat, implement a encryption scheme for chatting and more. Here is a example of it:
The player does: .luac edit encryption

Code: Select all

local cipher = require'enigma'
--cipher.settings.set(2, 3, {5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19})
local encrypt = cipher.settings.encrypt
local decrypt = cipher.settings.decrypt
--[[
-- default settings
local encrypt = cipher.encrypt
local decrypt = cipher.decrypt
--]]
local before = '?' -- messages beginning with '?' are encrypted
local begin = '@e' -- messages beginning with '@e' are decrypted

core.register_on_sending_chat_message(
function(message)
  if message:sub(1, 5) == '/msg ' then
    message = message:sub(6)
    local name, msg = message:match('([^%s]+)%s%?(.+)')
    if not name then
      return false
    end
    core.send_chat_message('/msg ' .. name .. ' ' .. begin
      .. encrypt(msg))
    return true
  elseif message:sub(1, #before) == before and message ~= before then
    message = message:sub(1 + #before)
    local to_send = encrypt(message)
    core.send_chat_message(begin .. to_send)
    return true
  end
  return false
end)

core.register_on_receiving_chat_message(
function(message)
  core.display_chat_message(message)
  local name, c_msg = message:match('^<(.*)>%s' .. begin .. '(.*)')
  if message:match('^PM%sfrom%s') then
    local name, c_msg = message:match('^PM%sfrom%s([^%s]*):%s' .. begin
      .. '(.*)')
    if name then
      core.display_chat_message(core.colorize('red', 'Message: ')
        .. core.colorize('yellow', decrypt(c_msg)))
    end
  elseif name then
    core.display_chat_message(core.colorize('red', 'Message: ')
      .. core.colorize('yellow', decrypt(c_msg)))
    return true
  end
  return true
end)

_halt()

--end
Then: .luac edit enigma

Code: Select all

Hello Extex,
I'm sorry for the late reply, I did a small upgrade, it should work now.
