I installed my very first mod, simple mobs, and played it for a few minutes. Then i went to disable it in the world configuration menu. This caused all kinds of lua errors during gameplay. Then i tried removing the mobs folder from the minetest directory. This had no effect; lua errors continued. Then i put the mobs folder back where it was and tried the uninstall option in the Mods tab at the main menu. This had no effect. Mobs folder remains and is still playable.

Also, for future reference, what is the proper way to uninstall a mod?

Disable it using configure.
Uninstall by deleting the folder.
If you use a mod in a world and then uninstall that mod, it may cause problems such as missing nodes or entities or broken mapgen. It depends on what the mod is.
