How to speed up time when joining a server?
Take a look of my mods:
Password Chest

Trapplus

Forgive me for my bad English.

If you're hosting a server, you can create a "remote media" server. This is basically a static web server (Apache, nginx, lighttpd, … anything should be fine, even Python's HTTP server) that serves media files (mod textures, models and sounds).

You'll need to configure it to a publicly accessible domain or subdomain (in plain HTTP, not HTTPS), then use this shell script to generate files that can be downloaded by clients. Once this is done, you can add this to your minetest.conf and start the Minetest server:

Code: Select all

remote_media = http://mysubdomain.mydomain.com/subdirectory

Find a person (very difficult in my experience) who changes source code that the map and mods are loaded locally (you of course also need to enable local map saving), so you join the world and walk around, in the same time in the background you're connecting to the server.
When you officially join the server, the nodes which you dug and placed are gradually (due to anticheat) sent to the server and what you built actually locally appears there.
