TNT crashes game

Hello everyone i am new here and need some help on something annoying

Every time i use TNT to blow anything up if i use more than 6 TNT boxes at once it starts to blow them up and then the game will just cut out no warning or anything just vanishes. And when i reload the game it will bring me back to the point of the TNT exploding then cut out again. This happens if i try to use too many TNT boxes.

It's annoying because i am the point if i want to use TNT boxes for any large destruction i have to do the following

use 3 to blow up a section of the world
exit the game and back up the world
re enter game
use 3 to blow up a section of the world
exit the game and back up the world

And this goes on if i want to do any large construction of any kind or it just corrupts the file in the sense it gets stuck on the TNT explosion. Everything else works fine in the game just the TNT which breaks it.

Any ideas and help on the problem will be great i can also provide further information if needed

Welcome to Minetest electricwildflower!

Sounds like a frustrating issue for sure. I honestly don't have a clue where to begin to assist you with information you have given so far. Think you can post the output of your debug.txt so we may possibly find a clue? I would think with the specs in your sig, your machine should handle that amount of TNT.

Thanks for the reply i have found the debug.txt file should i just copy and past the whole lot ??

The whole thing might be huuuuuuuuge.
Scroll down to the end, then back up until you see the Minetest ascii art that is the beginning of a session. Then grab a few lines above it. Select down until the end of the file.
That will grab Minetest loading up, and the activity up until the crash.

Something like this, posted in a "Code" block (a forum post editor button):

What version?

I used to have this problem on previous version 0.4.13 because each node is processed individually

Since 0.4.14 (May 2016) TNT has been redone and should not happen anymore since the whole load gets processed as a single explosion

What you describe is not a bug but a result of too much TNT. However Minetest Game 0.4.14 allows much larger amounts to be used than 6, see the video of latest TNT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj53S8dKjl4

Sorry for the late reply dodgy internet problems waiting to be fixed.

Managed to get it to work i was using the Version in the Linux Mint Repository not sure which version it was though. I removed it then visited the Minetest website and added the Minetest Stable PPA then updated then re installed from the Repository and it fixed it.

I have used up to 100 TNT and besides the game going really sluggish on the explosion it doesn't crash it.

Having the same issue with too many TNT. The TNT is lit and explodes just as I log on then crashes the program 5 seconds after starting the game. I'm using 0.4.15 on

CPU~Quad core Intel Core i5-6600K (-MCP-) speed/max~1200/3501 MHz Kernel~3.19.0-32-generic x86_64 Up~5 days Mem~3497.2/7841.3MB HDD~1532.2GB(8.8% used) Procs~233 Client~Shell inxi~2.2.28

I have turned off all mods, all settings are reduced to bare minimum.
Seriously dont want to lose the world I am creating.

*UPDATE* 16 April '17: upgraded to version 0.4.15, no help. Crashes on start.
