[SOLVED] Help with unsupported client version.

I am currently using 0.5.0-dev.

I'm starting a singleplayer world and I get this error that I don't know how to fix:

Access denied. Reason: Your client's version is not supported.
Please contact server administrator.

And the game quits.

I don't know why I get this message even on singleplayer.

Any help is appreciated.

Did you compile the binaries yourself or are you using someone else's package? Are you sure you're executing the binaries you compiled/loaded, and not something that was already on the system? You should probably post your entire debug.txt at the very least and mention your system specs.

Your 0.5.0-dev build is outdated. Get one that is newer than 46f7fe9 or change your minetest.conf setting to `strict_protocol_version_checking = false`.

I recompiled minetest and the problem seemed to go away.
