Just for confirming this, same here.
FDroid version works fine as well as the manually downloaded 0.4.16 .apk from the github page. The updated version from Play Store does instantly crash when starting. Also it doesn't write anything to debug.txt (tried debug_log_level=4 and debug_log_level=verbose in minetest.conf.)
Using a lenovo yoga 2 tablet, android 5.0.1, x86_64 intel cpu.
Read something about problems with building the apk for 0.5-dev x86 version in the forums...is this the same problem here?
